Some of you guys sound like you have some pretty good recipies. At our stores we use a sweetener base, any kind of fresh fruit, frozen yogurt and ice. A good blender is key! Please don't stop going to the malls though, I need that 5 bucks! |

Ken, I make these all the time for the same reason you mentioned, $ and convenience. Marty's recipe is good but I use lemon sherbert instead of yogurt as I don't like yogurt. I use orange juice. Actually I just spoon it out of the frozen container and add some water and blend it all together. You need a good blender, preferably one with a very wide base on the jar. I add some frozen raspberries to the mix. I also freeze my own strawberries when they are big and fresh to use later. I had to experiment a bit to get the mix of ingredients to my taste and to blend to the right consistency. |

Fill a blender 1/2 way with strawberries, add crushed ice,add vanilla yogurt (or Strawberry yogurt)and then either Orange juice or pineapple juice then blend. I don't own a Smoothie shop but I do have an M.D. degree!! Regards. |

I think that they add some sort of non-fat or low-fat yogurt to fill it out a bit. Good luck! |

Does anyone know how to make a Smoothie fruit and ice drink like those sold in the malls? My wife and I really enjoy them, but at $5 a pop they are a little expensive. I am sure that they are easy to make at home, but I have yet to figure out how they are made. Strawberries and ice just do not work well. There must be some other fruit juices added in. So, if anyone owns a California Smoothie shop (or similiar store), please feel free to tell us your secret.
