Ralph,

I hear you...

Try 40, 4 kids and a 6 month old grandson...

A nice cigar, some decent music (60-70s), a nice bottle of Canadian Club and I can escape for a couple of hours!

Hang in there my friend. School will end one day and you'll make more money and have more time for family and friends. Think about the good things that'll come. Convince yourself this is only temporary sacrifice.
Goodluck.

Matthew

You've got to carve out SOME time once in a while to rest your brain and recharge your batteries.

A nice 45 minute drive to nowhere in the back country in the 400i does therapeutic wonders for me. Lots cheaper than a shrink, and more fun!

Barring that, physical exercise (running, squash, tennis) helped me offset the mental fatigue when I was in grad school.

I bought a go cart to get me out of my home office a few days a month. Today is the first day I will actually put it on a track. As long as I don't get killed in it, it should be a good break! Since my work schedule rules my life, I focus on little things to do that don't take a lot of time. I am trying to make time twice a week to sit on my deck and smoke a cigar and look at the cedar trees.

I'm in law school so I'm in a similair situation. Lots of demands on my time. I'm going to have to plan my day out so I can do everything. Probably means less hanging out BSing with my friends but we can do that later.
Meditation is good for relieveing stress, if you can find time to go to the gym, thats good too

I agree with Kds. Travel is the way to go. Even just a weekend away without the cellphone is good to recharge the batteries...

Travel has always worked for me. It's amazing what 2 weeks of cheap beer and warm weather can do for your soul.

I drink a nice bit of The Macallan 18 and then rub one out.

Works like a charm.

I put in some good 18th century music on my CD player, lay in my bed, and just shut myself down mentally. Occasionally if Im really exhausted Ill eventually fall asleep and have a short nap as well. I guess its my way of "meditating" after a stressful day.

Lately I have not been able to relax too much. I have been going to school, working full time, and getting adjusted to being married (I got married 3 months ago). My wife is great, she gives me my space when I need it. Lately I have had no time though. I go to work and school and then when I get home I do homework until it is time for bed. Obviously, I have just enought time to post on Ferrarichat. I would like to take some time off but I can't because I need to go to school and I need to work to support my wife and I. I do have a lot of vacation time built up, but I will need it for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holdiay.

Anyway, I know this is just life, but what tricks do you guys have to just push through. Thanks in advance.
