Jon - I had the hardest time watching hockey on TV. Couldn't follow the puck, had no idea what the hell was going on, and bizzare commentary. Loved going to the games, though. After the Stunner at Staples in 2001 when the Kings iced the Red Wings, though, I got hooked. I actually prefer watching the TV, because I don't blow my vocal cords out! I went to Vegas this last weekend to go to Frozen Fury 7 at the MGM grand. Great damn game, but I blew my damn voice out! I'm a big time heckler (I know, surpise surpise) and I guess I got a little carried away.

Nebula, Actually I watched a lot of Hockey when the Capitals were somewhat respectable in the 80's. Going to the game is quite exciting but I never got to the point where I could watch it on TV very long. Not a bad sport to watch in person but TV is another thing. Kinda like Boxing! Regards, Jon

I can't stand: 1) soccer - to much dramatics on the field, one bump and the guy is rolling on the ground like his leg was just chopped off, a bunch of premadonas chasing a ball around. 2)karate competions - these things are nothing but screaming ballet, if you wanna see real martial arts watch a No-Holds-Bard fight, like Pride, or the UFC. K1 is pretty good too. |

Jon! You're not a hockey fan? Arrrgh! And I thought you were a cool guy!
Seriously, though, hockey is the best damn sport out there. Great stuff. Pick a team and watch them throughout the season, and you'll change your opinion. |

I agree with Mark. I'm not much up on sports and in the office all the guys talk about is football, basketball, and hockey. When I mention anything car-related their eyes just gloss over and they stare blankly. If I'm surfing the channels and there are some nice looking ladies on there, no matter what sport it is I suddenly like it. Not trying to be sexist here....okay maybe a bit. |

Any automobile racing where the track is a giant loop (boring watching people turn left for three hours). But number one is Precision Ice Skating. This is literally fat chicks who weren't talented enough to become figure skaters skating in big coreographed circles around each other. It's a varsity sport at some universities (thanks Title IX for forcing schools to invent women's sports). |

I try to get my girlfriend to watch as much figure skating as possable. Maybe she'll pick up a new trick ;) I don't know why but sometimes I catch myself watching woman's college gymnastics. I don't know why I do it?

Curling - Curling wins hands down. It's not only as much fun as watching paint dry but it always runs into or cuts short a Formula One broadcast on TSN the Sports Channel here. Hence why I DESPISE men with brooms Nika

"about that diving pic.... what point do you realize" Realize you can feel the thrill of speed like a Ferrari without the need for the car? Reminds me of the guys that watch racing for the big crash. Bigger need for speed? Try it at night while holding a burning torch. |

about that diving pic.... At what point do you realize you can brush off a high dive with much terminal velocity, and if so, did he live? |

Kds, Absolutely right on the skating crap, equally booooring is diving, and any swimming rubbish for that matter, except of course syncronized swimming, what an art form! |

>>I can see NASCAR in there, it's just a low-tech conga line IMHO.....and F1 is the hi-tech version. Wonder why F1 is not in there ? << Conga line? Isn't there more passing in a Nascar lap than a whole F1 race? Very few in the US are even aware of F1 enough to even vote on it. Surprised so many "hate" the PGA tour. Boring yes but hate? Or is this just more language inflation. |

Interesting survey and article...... I'm kind of disappointed to see major league soccer in there however. Gawd, I love watching soccer.....but there's a big difference between MLS and the world cup quality of soccer we saw last July in Japan.....I wonder if "world cup soccer" had been the name of the subject would the result have been different ? Anyways, futebol rant over. Didn't know that "dogfighting" was worth being rated on a survey however. Spectator sport eh ??? Wonder where you get tickets. I mean, really now..... I can see NASCAR in there, it's just a low-tech conga line IMHO.....and F1 is the hi-tech version. Wonder why F1 is not in there ? What I really can't bare to watch is figure skating or ice dancing. Anything judged subjectively IMHO is not a sport. |

CNN got away with the word "hate"? Under the Hate Crime Bill if you don't like a sport, that's ok, but if you "hate" it, then its merrit for doing time. Yeah, no suprise there, Golf is listed twice. Tennis to me, is like trying to savour an egg plant dish. I beleive that NASCAR listing is a incorrect insert. They meant to insert Mens Vollyball. |

Dave, I must agree with you, at least the Rugby WorldCup (makes American Football seem like a bit of a girl's game..) does involve the world (or at least a considerably larger part of it!) Now that is a sport, but I don't think its played much stateside is it?? |

I hesitate to even call it a sport, but that "Slamball" fiasco that they have on TNN/Spike/whatever it's called has to be without question the absolute dumbest thing that I have ever seen. For those that are lucky enough to have not seen it: full contact basketball with headgear played in a sort of cage, with trampolines (!) at each end of the court so everyone can do monster dunks. Truly unvelievable. I hate boxing too - I know they're in great shape/great athletes, but it's just savagery to me. |

funny how nascar qualifies for 8th most hated sports, and at the same time is the most watched sporting event in the usa - bigger numbers than football. so what gives? maybe all the wives of nascar junkies were the ones voting on cnn? ps. i actually like watching bullfighting. when its done right its fantastic |

From CNN: MOST HATED SPORTS 1. Dogfighting 2. Pro Wrestling 3. Bullfighting 4. Pro Boxing 5. PGA Tour 6. PGA Seniors 7. LPGA Tour 8. NASCAR 9. Major League Soccer 10. ATP Men's Tennis Source: The Associated Press http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/09/27/hated.sports.ap/index.html Didn't really know dogfighting was considered a sport. All I want to know where is bowling and womens basketball (not trying to be sexist but it's just plain boring with no dunks). And how bout' track and field, hockey, and horseracing! Geeez.... I actually like NASCAR, guess I am a hick! Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23 www.flatoutracing.net
