Try the Pontiac Aztek Rally. Lowered suspension = easy to get in and out of, good handling, tons of room inside, rides and drives like a car not a truck. Has a 9.1 out of 10 rating on Edmonds. |

They're nice if you don't mind a vehicle built like trash - they've been recalled literally ten+ times. If she liked that size vehicle check out the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV. The Escape may be cheap, but you get what you pay for. |

no long term exp with an escape (just ridden in one a couple times) but have you looked at the xterra's? i know 4 people who have them and are very happy. i think both cars start around $20k base w/ a 6 cylinder and imo would rather have a nisaan instead of a ford... good luck. |

Sorry, no road tests here. Actually my wife needs a new car--something with space but not a huge, full-sized SUV. She rented an Escape for the weekend and liked it. Anyone here have any longer term experience with them? They're relatively cheap, and I'm not going to buy a $40K-plus car to park on the street. |
