i'm with Dale on that, being privileged enough to watch a P4 restoration slowly unfold is immeasurable...

Kendall, being called 'Ken Doll' must have sucked... i should start another thread on all the names people were called as a kid and why... Yeah, i think i'll do that - Good idea, Kenny...! :-)

Wow Mark, thanks for the link. I joined FC late last Spring and, thus, missed all this stuff. I just blew an hour when I shoulda been working reading the P4 story. Jim's work should go under the heading of performance art.

And Jeeze Jim, did you have to bring up velour seats? Funny how life goes around. Just yesterday I was talking to my 16-year son about drinking and driving. I had to fess up about how cool we used to be... We'd get a college student to buy some cheap wine and then drive around and drink till we got sick. Man was we cool. But thanks for the story and a special thanks for sharing your cars with us. I hope you're making a movie about this.

On a dark and stormy night a long time ago I was the only one sober enough to be able to drive. A friend remarked "Glickenhaus you're driving like an Indianapolis driver."
It came out more as "Napolis"
The interior of that car was velour.
It was brand new. Another passenger's parents had left it for the weekend because it was too new to take on their trip.
After our trip as WC Fields said "The resale value of this car is nil"

Sherpa is a bike racing nickname. I got in 1999 before I started winning a lot. I used to be the guy that would do lots of work, always be up at the front, and help someone else get the glory. Anyways, at some point in 2000 I realized that good karma doesn't get you to the Olympics so I went to the opposite side of the spectrum. In 2002 I won over half of all the races I did. I would have won even more had I not shattered my pelvis.

Well, mine is DrTax because, well, like the Who sang, "Who are you. You are who," I am DrTax and DrTax is me.

What I want to know is Napolis. I'm no expert on Italy, but those who are typically don't have many kind words to say about Napoli. I suspect that there is a story (or screen play) somewhere here!

To further explain,I came up with the 'Oldslow308' moniker after I tried to keep up with Willis in his 360 and John H. in his 355. A Nitrous shot would have been welcome.

Jordan, as far I know the fence clipper story is true.

Thanks Peter, The oldslow308 was kind of a 'tongue in cheek thing' though I would be much happier with an extra 100 horses.

DJ, I have heard that story too! Hilarious! Not for the dog though :-)

Another tale is of the Pan Am 747 captain who clipped the fence seperating the airport from the beach twice before being removed from the airline. If Pan Am were to name a 747 just for him, it would be called "Clipper of the fence" :-)

Jordan,
A story I read about the end of the runway in St. Martin being so close to the beach.

People would gather along the chainlink fence at the end of the runway when the larger jets would spool up for takeoff. The people would hang on to the fence and get blown nearly horizontal by the jet blast. Another guy would wait until the blast was at it's highest and throw his dog up in the air sending it flying across the beach into the water.

........things people do for fun!

The license plate on my 308 reads SPASSO and the meaning is thus as found in the Italian to English translation using WWW.Wordreference.com.;what I feel when I am driving it.............

SPASSO ['spasso]
(n)(m)(divertimento)amusement, enjoyment;
PER~,for amusement;
CHE SPASSO!,what a laugh!;
SEI UNO SPASSO!, you're a scream!;

No relation intended to the restaurant named 'SPAZZO'.

I'm crazy for anything (esp. F-cars!!) with a droptop.

Here's a little known factoid...

"cabriolet": The French word actually referred to turn of the 1900s soft top convertible taxis of France and, from what I understand, cabriolet is the source of "cab" in taxi cab.

My FC nickname name was a mistake... On my part...

I wanted it to read like this: Peter ('75 308 GT4), but I placed the names in the wrong fields and it ended up like it is now. When it first appeared, I realised the mistake, but didn't mind it. Actually, it makes it easier to change if and when I decide to change cars and I'll still be able to keep my profile status.

As for the meaning, well, not hard to figure out!

Entelechy is the name of my production company. Bit of a mouthfull, but I love the definition. I came across the word when reading an interview with biologist Rupert Sheldrake. It means "the actualization of potential", or "the end state within".
