Hi Peter,

You should buy a digital tacho for the kart and find out the peak revs for that engine, that's the only way to do it. I'm not familiar with that engine but it will be around the 16,000 mark I imagine. For testing days you want to adjust the high speed jet on the carburettor so that the engine is 'stroking' at the end of the longest straight. A 93 tooth sprocket is quite high, good acceleration less top end.

I have a kart with a Yamaha KT100 engine. I was told to put a 78-80 tooth sprocket for the long track. I replaced the 93 tooth that was on it with an 80 tooth. Question: How big is the risk of blowing the engine on a 1/4 mile strait with a 93 tooth sprocket?
