No, the Audis that ran this year were privateers so that a "factory" VW effort could win, and help Bentley's marketing effort. Purely a management decision, not a regulatory body's. |

Hubert, the Bentley Speed 8 and the Audi R8 only share the engine IIRC. Also the Bentley is a coupe running in the GTP class (same class as the old Toyota GT-Ones), while the Audi is a spyder design. I think both cars are distinct in a way. Of course, they are still owned by the same company.... |

>>When the Audis were too dominant in Le Mans, they got slapped and voila we have Bentleys winning the event. Too much power to the FIA.<< Uhh, bentleys are audi with green bodywork. The ACO is the regulatory body for the le mans. |

The 24 Hours of LeMans is indeed run under ACO rules, which are not under direct control of the FIA (and which differ from FIA's prototype/GT rules). The Bentley win over Audi is widely regarded as a VAG corporate decision for marketing purposes, in that resources formerly used for Audi were redeployed to the Bentley team. |

When the Audis were too dominant in Le Mans, they got slapped and voila we have Bentleys winning the event. Too much power to the FIA. I thought Le Mans wasn't run under FIA jurisdiction? |

The smaller restictor is meant to lower the output of the engine by depriving it of it's normal air. I talked to a Pilota Instructor who drove the Porsche GT3RS at one of the races and he told me that the 360GT is slower on the straight but faster through the corners. That's because of the restrictor that's the FIA deem the GT should have. Darn. |

Hopefully, these smaller air restrictors will make the Ferraris faster, rather than slower. |

Common to most sanctioning bodies; IMSA, NASCAR, ALMS, TRANS AM, WRC, GRAND AM... It is particularly frustrating to the teams which work so hard to operate within the rules and are successful. This is just another example or the equalizing equations employed to 'level' the field... Don't expect Prodrive to vanish from the front just because of this adjustment... It's all entertainment and thus in the best interests of the given series... In this case I would agree with prodrives assessment, however the show must go on... |

That's the kind of thing I hate about GT classes and Le Mans racing: They just twist the rules as they like. When the Audis were too dominant in Le Mans, they got slapped and voila we have Bentleys winning the event. Too much power to the FIA. F1 is a lot more stable thanks to the Concorde agreement. In F1 we hide the cheating...
