I never did think that Michael meant to let Rubens win. The finish was just too close to have been manipulated by the drivers. Clearly a stupid mistake, in my eyes.

I think Shumi meant to win the race and messed up by slowing down a little too much for a "photo finish" with Rubens. I was really ticked after watching the race, cheering for Shumi all the way to have this happen. Yes I'm a little mellower about it now but two wrongs don't make a right.

Fred (Fernando???)- I couldn't agree with you more. I was there last year and thought it just payback for Rubens playing second fiddle/supporting cast all year long for Michael's fifth title which was locked up two months previous in France. Big Deal they manipulated the finish. Indy was meaningless except for RUBENS's career.

I was so ticked last year that I didn't make plans to go there this year.... and now it's going to have to be be a legit race.
I think a lot of people were ticked about the way the race ended last year. It seemed like there were more promotions to get people to come back, buy 3 get one ticket free, drive the track if you buy "x" amount of tickets... I think the championship points race might save attendance a little but it will be interesting to see the turn out. I was surprised to see that as of last week the place I usually stay had rooms available.

I thought Schumacher owed him one and do think it is a team sport. They are trying for two titles, the drivers and constuctors so they need to work as a team IMO.

You know, last year at Indy I was so upset that Michael slowed down and Rubens won. What does everyone think a year later?

I'm more mellow about it this year. I really don't think Michael wanted Rubens to win, but went with it after the result was final. I think he just wanted Rubens up there for a good team support photo opp, but Ruben inched ahead. If Michael wanted Rubens to really win he wouldn't of made it so close.

Anyway, last year I was upset because I think racers should go 100% no matter what. I also think it's more of an individual than team sport as the World Championship means much more than the constructors. However, it spun nicely as it looked like Michael paid back Rubens.

Discus away...
