Des, I won't let you drive my car without having met you, and seeing you how you actually drive. It is my precious Baby. However, I would be more then Happy to give you a ride and show you all the cool places and Beverly Hills.

"You can drive my cars too."

AHHH...!

Matt, easy, please...! i keep stealing heart medication from the geriatric people in the neighborhood, since Ron offered to let me drive his... Too much incredible Ferrari hospitality might just make my chest crack open...!

Thank you so much, really, i can't tell you how much i appreciate something like that... You guys don't know me from Abe- i could be some weirdo freak or worse- a bad driver...! You guys are so totally cool, i can't begin to go into it... Thank you so much... Damn... can ya feel the love...? :-)

DES,

You can drive my cars too.

Go To double trees web site and look for places in Santa Clarita (91355) or West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Westwood. We can accomodate your schedule

You guys are too awesome... NY's givin' me a hard time about posting here, but i don't think they understand... There's a lot of gratitude here... i've never sat in a moving Ferrari before and with Ron's offer, i might actually get to drive one (if i don't pass out...:-))

Plans might change, slightly... My Aunt might come- easy fellas, she's married... :-)
If she comes with me, we'll share a hotel room, but she's not into cars... In fact, she thinks i'm just as sick as some of your wives think you guys are... i love her to death and told her i was considering going out there and asked her if she wanted to come, even though we'd separate once we landed... i offered to pay for her plane ticket, but we're splitting the hotel room, 'cause she's not a Motel 6 kinda person- she needs the pool & weight room & the room service & yadda yadda yadda... So, i'm thinking there's gotta be some Double Tree Suites out there, right...? Anyone know of any in the vinicity of where i should be landing...? i hate to be a pain in the ass, but she's my Aunt and i could never enjoy something without first seeing if she wanted some part of it... Hey, maybe if i give you guys her email address, you could all email her and try and make her dig cars...

...nah, she'd kill me, lol... :-)

So, um... Any Double Tree Suites in the area...? :-)

I'm about 20 miles or 25 minutes away from LAX. Des, I would follow Ron's suggestion and come on one of the weekends that we have a drive sheduled. That way you can be in a group of 10+ Feraris.

Burbank airport is down the street from my office. LAX is pretty close to JL and maybe others. Byron and others are close to John Wayne (Orange County).

I don't know who is close to Long Beach (Jet Blue), maybe Gene.

Just get the lowest fare and/or most convenient schedule and we can adjust. If nothing else you can get a shuttle to somewhere that is convenient to someone here. Or if you rent a car, then you just drive to wherever we coordinate.

There are many hotels and motels around. If you don't mind sleeping on an aero bed you can sleep in the other bedroom that I am using as an office. Or, if my wife is back in the master bedroom you can use the bedroom she is using now.

Dont' worry about accomodations.

Remember that the Ortega run is on the 23rd, we have a carting event on March 8th with some driving afterwards. I am trying to get some others to go out to Riverside on Mar 30 for an outdoor karting event.

The big Palm Springs weekend is April 4-6. I just heard thatpart of the activities include a visit to a huge private exotic car collection with 110 cars plus an exotic car auction, concours, etc.

It looks like I will be in Hawaii the next 2 weekends (April 11 & 18) so if you choose either of those or the one prior I might be out of town.

Just let us know what you are thinking about from a timing standpoint.

I still say check out Long Beach. Check out Jet blue- should be really cheap flights. Long beach is pretty accessable.

Jet blue also flies into the Ontario airport, but I think Long beach is easier.

My Parents live on LI, and they have used Jet Blue several times to visit me, and I've used it to visit them.

DES,

1). Burbank is the second best and is easy for pick and delivery.

2). In my area, there is the Hyatt in Valencia and a Best Western in Santa Clarita.

3). 18 at the enterpise near me

4). IF you were in the post off, you screw with us and you will be on a milk carton. :-)

Ok... a few questions before i start searching for plane tickets, reservations and such...

1). It's obviously more expensive to fly into LAX- which airport is the cheapest one but the closest one to all of you, to fly into...?

2). You guys aren't exactly in South Central, so i can imagine the hotels out there rate well- are there any hole-in-the-wall hotels near by...? i could care less about a swimming pool, weight room, game room, etc- a blanket & a shower is really all i need...

3). Is the age minimum still 25 for renting a car...?

4). The last time you were in the post office, did you see my picture...? (just checking...:-))

Ron, have a good night, sleep is probably the best idea for me, too... Let me sleep on this trip a little more... i want nothing more than to be able to take a 4 day weekend, fly out to California and- dare i say it- drive a Ferrari & hang out with you all and enjoy the weather and check out some sites and just have a good time- i could really use it... Let me roll it around in my mind a bit more... But you all are just so tremendously hospitable, it's unbelievable, thank you so much... i'm just blown away... Thanks...

Actually, I think the del Sol (non VTec version) is not powerful enough for sports car status.

I'm only covering it with liability but even with rating my son on it (each of us had to be rated on one car because I have 4) it was not too expensive to insure.

Good luck. Going to sign off now and get some sleep. See you soon?

Ron, that's like- so totally awesome of you, i can't thank you enough, thank you so much... i don't blame the NYers- born and raised here, it's impossible not to have trust issues- especially when you have something like a Ferrari...

"No red-lining..." -you sound like my uncle, when i took his BMW out, last week... Um, but i can assure, i've never turned a car on two wheels... To be perfectly honest- i don't even know if i could drive it-- i'd be too nervous... i think i'd pass out or something... holy crap, i still can't believe we're having this conversation...

The Del Sol sounds like a sporty car- something i'm trying to stay away from for insurance purposes... But thanks for the tip...

DES, very sorry to hear about your car.

I just bought a 93 Honda del Sol for my son but I like it so much that I am driving it much of the time (that and the fact that he got into a small accident the first time he drove it :-().

I can highly recommend them. With the top off and the back window down it is like a convertible with a roll bar and with the top on it is like a hard top. They are a bit scarce but the price is not too bad.

I am very serious about driving the car and I can't believe that someone else has not offered to you before. I'm ashamed of all the NY crowd that knows of your passion and has not offered.

Naturally, we would need some small ground rules (no red-lining and no turns on two wheels :-) but that's about it.)

Maybe this will tip the scales of your decision to come out here.

I would offer to let you stay with us but my wife is sleeping in our spare bedroom for a while (small problem hopefully being worked out).

Maybe it will be open when you come. If so, you got it.

Ron, i'm trying to be calm... you don't understand... No one's ever offered to let me DRIVE THEIR FERRARI before...!

Ok... gimme a minute, i have to go get someone to re-teach me how to breathe... i'lll be back in a few...

...

...

Ah... ok... i think i'm better now... Yes, i know how to drive a stick- the gears are supposed to make that grinding sound when you shift, right...? :-) Of course, from what i understand, exotics are a little different (geared higher) so you'll have to clue me in a little on just how high the Mondial is geared, etc, etc... Holy crap, i can't believe i'm having this conversation... i can't believe you offered to let me drive your Ferrari... It's a Ferrari...!
Ron, re-think your offer, please... Seriously... Just give it a second thought- sleep on it... Thank you... really... thank you...

Yeah, 363 days into ownership, i blew the engine on my '93 Sentra (and boy did i burn my lips...! Sorry, couldn't help it...:-))
i'm presently looking for another car- i'm excluding american-made cars and almost everything before 1990 from my search... i found a '94 Saturn today with 74k miles on it... the guy wants 2400- i'm hoping, if the car passes my uncle's inspection, that i'll be able to get him down to 2k, even...

DES, calm down. It's just a car (although I love it and still cant' believe I own it).

Of course I'm serious. I have let several people drive it. You do know how to drive a stick shift don't you?

On another subject, I saw a post in the general section that you had lost your car. I don't have the time or patience to search to find out what that is all about, so I will just ask you, what happened?
