I won't be there...car needs to go into the shop on Tuesday (parking lights won't go off). I pulled the plug on teh lights, but that also cuts electricity to my radiator fans, and a bunch of other functions. |

Thanks guys , I'm taking the wife and kids to Hawaii for a few weeks but if you want to grab a bite to eat after I get back that would be great . I went to the Cove once for the car show but those crazy fools wake up much too early for me. " If your in control your not driving fast enough " |

Well, I for one wave if I can...but regardless of whether you do or dont, G. Peters, you drive the cars like they are meant to be driven! I would hardly call yourself a bad owner...maybe a bit reckless, but you gotta have fun sometimes If you ever need a passenger, Ill gladly accept an offer! Youll probably scare the crap out of me, but even if we die, Ill die happy I live pretty close to Newport Beach so if your ever bored one day, give me a call! Ill treat for lunch. |

Sunny I'm not sure you want to take that bet. Did you look at G.Peters profile? He rides a Turbo Hyabusa which means he is clinically insane . Its basically the equivalent of Wiley Coyote sitting on an Acme rocket and lighting the fuse except faster....the speedo needle moves from 0-200 with the same speed as your RPM gauge in first gear. G.Peters I think you need to check yourself into the Betty Ford clinic of adrenoline junky's But your definately my kind of car enthusiest. You should come to socali sometime so we can have a lil fun through our twisties here and I'll promise you I won't lift until you lift . I had that same little contest with a Lambo the last drive and he lifted at 160 I was planning on going until I tagged the rev limiter in 6th. But yea we do our own midnight canyon runs down here and it would be good fun to see how you do. But you'll have to excuse me if I refuse to get in the car with you . I may be stupid but I'm not THAT stupid. |

If you want to earn the hardest dollar you can, I'll ride passenger. You drive like I drive, but with a fatter bank roll for nicer toys. I'm 26 and have a ways to go to earn them, otherwise I'd ask to join you sometime. Its a lifestyle. A ticket for over 160 means nothing except you got caught. Getting a ticket to tie or be faster then the those in the group is something to aim for. |

Robert , to each his own. "Oh, you have to break your sh*t and be reckless to have fun? Crazy. Maybe you want a trophy for endangerment?" It happens when you push. A trophy ? WTF , it's a sportscar I thought it was the idea to drive a sportscar hard and fast. "Show some appreciation for the rolling art & engineering and the people that enjoy the same with a simple WAVE. If someone waves at me in my Ferrari or not it's courtesy to wave back." Sorry to me it's just a car. I bought it because I like they way it looks , and it's sound . Like I said before I don't drive and look at other cars for the most part (unless she's blond, lol ). Once again I'm a bad owner . Jean, I use Hoosier slicks on the street or thread wear rated tires of less than 140 ,so they wear out quick . The pads are R4's FRC's the squeal like a stuck pig but great when warm . Like I said before I keep a G-Tech meter plugged in the car to record and try and exceed past readings . This wears out stuff real quick. As for group drives I have a small group of hooligan's ( long time friends ) we usually drive late at night 2 or 3 in the morning . I'm not a big fan of daytime drives too much attention from the PoPo. We know each other well and know each others strengths and weaknesses . We try and keep it small to avoid attention. Acceptance in the club is a ticket for over 160 . Most people don't like the stuff we do on the street , oh well. We play a game we call" Quin Es Mas Macho " . We bet each other a buck to see if we can scare the passenger . Stupid yes, destroys car yes , immature you bet . But it's fun for us and as long as we don't endanger others I don't give a crap what people think . By the way I'm a old fart of 38 . I put about 1100 miles on the car on avg. unless it's in the shop. Anyway guys, we live our lives according to our own values and whatever one smartass does shouldn't affect your lives. Like I said before I'm a bad owner. I'm going to go sit in my car and repent. |

G Peters. You should join us on one of our drives. I would like to see how one drives; in order to go through tires and brake pads so quickly. Those that know me, say thatI drive fast and hard, but i could not imagine going through brake pads that quickly? Are you driving like 3-10,000 miles a month? |

Have you ever considered maybe the people who don't wave have something on their minds . The only time I look around is if a blonde is nearby. To my way of thinking, great so your in a Ferrari too what do you want a medal ( comment not directed at F-Chatters just being a smart a$$ )? Here in Balboa or Corona or Laguna they are a dime a dozen. By the same token I live in a small enclave of 31 homes and most of us have never met. Some people tend to be private , so because some people don't socialize with everybody that classifies them as a$$holes ? How does the quality of your life suffer because someone didn't wave ? In my case I drive a 360 because that's the flavor of the moment for me ( until the warranty expires) . Unless another Ferrari or whatever really catches my eye I tend to ignore them. I drive the 360 like a rental car . I carry a G-Tech meter in the car to see if I can exceed braking distances ,G readings on on-ramps and go through tires and brake pads every 3 or 4 months . I will talk to any driver who's tires are feathered and whose rims are covered with black brake dust. The guys with Armor All shiny new looking tires and no rock chips on the front many times are a different type of driver. I have crashed many of my cars over the years either on the track or at the canyons . For me I have fun with my cars , sometimes I break them . Some owners don't understand that type of thinking. This passion thing (sorry engineer mind set ,I need tangibles ) I don't understand . So if you see someone sliding his 360 around a freeway onramp or doing E-brake 360's at Ortega and he doesn't wave back it might just be this rude bastard .Maybe I'm not a good owner. "When in doubt ,both feet out" , Jackie Stewart. |

Bear Brand is in Laguna Niguel near the St. Regis. I have a couple of friends down here with F-cars as well. One of them it turns out has been up to CC. He's the gorgeous red/blk 360F1 spider. We will be happy to hook up for a cavallino convoy North to CC! |

Son of a , I am staying off the back bay. Crap, my toy never has any play friends! I was at fashion island all day too. Most people down here, well most Ferrari owners anywhere, but an unusual proportion here in OC, are not that passionate, posers mostly. Some people buy cars, others choose them. I can say Jim M and Tony N down here are the only two I really reccomend, and know are passionate. If you are up Superioir from PCH, there is a dealer with a Daytona and 50 in the window, I think it is Jim's. Tony does awesome restorations for you classic enthusiasts. |

RobertF- where is exactly Bear Brand at? I can maybe swing by and get you the next time we can plan to head over(hopefully next weekend), I am coming on the 5 going south. I usually show up at about 7-7:30 and hang out for an hour, I like to watch alot of the car move in and out too through the lot instead of just sitting still.... |

Brian, I live in Westwood, and on a given week I am close to(driver could see me) at least 8 Ferrari's a week. I am lucky when 2 out of the 8 waive back. Last night bumper to bumper on Sunset I nodded and smiled to a mondial owner next to me and he didn't acknowledge, but his passenger (female) was starring us up and down. Yellow 360 spider was heading towards me on Wilshire at slow speeds I waived, no waive back. Bottom line I waive or smile at anyone, its unfortunate that i get more thumbs up, waives and smiles from non-ferrari owners. Unless they are F-chatters! JLM |

Robert, it's best to show up at around 6:45am and hang around until 8am. Cars come and go, but a lot of nice cars I noticed tend to leave around 8am. The people I've run into at Crystal Cove have the right attitude - sharing their passion with others. It's a great place to meet people and see cool cars. I'm wondering why Saturday was picked though. You'd think with the traditional "Sunday Drive" people would do the show on Sunday. I like Saturday, but just pondering how and why. |

Robert, the show is from 6-9am every saturday. Its just off of PCH and Crystal Heights Drive (in between Laguna and Newport Beach). You cant miss it. There are usually only one or two people from the website there, but there is always about 200-250 cars so its still quite fun! I probably wont be able to go for a few weeks though since I have to start school. |

From the looks of all the Crystal Cove discussion, I gather that you all meet at around 8 am on Saturdays. Correct? Virtually every Saturday? Some weeks it is a small Ferrari contingent, then other weeks it is a hot rod show+Ferraris? I live in Bear Brand. Anyone drive up there from here? BTW forget about the in the TR! |

When encountering those with tunnel-vision-disorder, just remind yourself that they if they didn't have a bad attitude, they wouldn't have any personality at all, and quite obviously, they have Penis Envy. This type of person is immature, and as such, has no understanding or appreciation, nay, any concept whatsoever of their own insignificance in relation to the world, it's inhabitants, or the utter speck of dust that they are on the face of this tiny rock called earth in this vast galaxy, which is one of many. |

Not all F-car owners are enthusiasts. Alot of people buy F-cars so they can have an attitude. They could give a flying about the car. |

I've got to make it to Crystal Cove to meet you all. I have found that here in So. O.C about 1 in 4 Ferrari owners that I pass do not acknowledge. I think that some people are not filled with the passion. They only have an F-car cause someone told them it was cool, to impress chicks, their neighbor got a Porsche etc., etc. They would otherwise use the cash to wipe with. These people are missing out on a great joy in their life. Not to mention the added pleasure of "participating" in Ferrari's F1 efforts. |

Paul, I wasn't trying (and anyone else who may have got that impression) to stereotype anyone from Newport Beach (only those from Corona del Mar...just kidding). My comment was pointing out that in Newport Beach, there are always plenty of Ferrari's driving around, so I was a bit surprised by the attitude I received from another Ferrari driver. Why I got the attitude not just from this guy, but a few others (Santa Monica, etc.) I'll never know...but why people can't at least smile is beyond me. Anyway, you're right...there are enthusiasts, nice guys, and assholes. It's a shame, but o'well. Race? Dunno...a Mondial's a pretty heavy car...one that really needs more HP and torque. I still pine that Ferrari would bring it back in some shape or form, but alas, front engine 2+2s are what they're doing now. |

Jetx- I should of made it to Crystal Cove, didnt get up in time, next time gotta do the cruise with you guys. I know what you mean though about other owners. I dont own an F-Car, but have gotten the same type of attitude from fellow NSX owners, one particular one along the same PCH last weekend. Because I look younger than the norm, he thought I was some punk kid and took off weaving in and out of lanes. O well, there are always these owners in all cases. I do however get alot of smiles and acknoledgements from other F-car owners and overall which again hold up to the 90% or so of the cool people. Let me know when the next cruise is after Crystal Cove and I'll be sure to make it. |

don't stereo type all Newport Beachers. some live here for the climate and views. However, your point is well taken. Just got back from a drive up the coast after going to the Crystal Cove event this morning. A lot of nice cars (especially a restored 365GTC/4, beautiful blue/tan) including a 360 Spyder, 2 Boxers, couple of 575s (California Azzuro, Barchetta red), silver 550, my car, and a 348 showed up shortly afterards. Anyway, I left the event as a Testarossa was passing me (I was pulling onto PCH). I know he saw me, and he was occasionally racing between cars up PCH. There were a few times I was behind him, etc., and finally we pulled up next to each other at the stop light. I look over, smile, try to make eye contact. This guy deliberately refused to look over. He saw me, he saw my Ferrari, but refused to look over. This isn't the first time this has happened in Southern California, and I wonder if some people are pissed off that they don't own the only Ferrari in the world. Especially in Newport Beach! I grew up in Southern California, and moved to the Bay Area for 5 years, and have since returned. There were stark contrasts between both places. Northern California people tended to be reserved, not very polite (holding a door open when you're right behind them) and self centered. HOWEVER, Ferrari owners regardless of what you drove would always honk, wave, smile, and usually try and catch up to each other if spotted. In Southern California, I find the people to be more open, polite, nice. HOWEVER Ferrari drivers tend to keep to themselves on the road, abstain from pleasantries, etc. Now, this isn't a requirement, but more of a session. I don't know why I'm perturbed, but I guess it not only leaves a bad taste in my mouth as a fellow F-Car owner, but I wonder what people who don't own Ferrari's think when they try to give the thumbs up to some of these guys? Yeah yeah, I know, 1 bad apple doesn't make for all Ferrari owners being bad. But I'm starting to notice since I've owned my car down here that they are not isolated incidents, but generally becoming the norm. I'm quite sure what I'm saying doesn't hold true for 95% of the people on this forum, especially the ones I've met. You guys seem to excited to snub another Ferrari owner, especially when you're both in line of sight, and you're both in your cars. I dunno, just bugs me some people are so caught up in themselves. |
