Carl, if you go to a good book store like Barnes&Noble or even Jewel, you should find the latest copy of Forza. In there is an ad to order back issues. That's how. Alternatively I could copy you the article, but I'm currently out of town, so you'd have to wait a bit. |

Not the same guys (whew). The ones I mentioned managed to screw up my Fiat Spider a bunch of years ago. I'll keep these guys in mind for my winter major.... |

Welcome, Carl. I live in the city and take my 328 to European on Lincoln, like Andreas. I've had both mechanical and cosmetic work done there and am very happy with their service. They have an intimate knowledge of Ferraris which I like since the dealerships tend to bias the newer models. As you will notice, there are no stupid questions, so ask away. |

Carl, welcome to the board and hopefully soon welcome to the owner's group! Continental in Hinsdale and Ferrari in Lake Forest are both good places in the burbs. If you need a place in the town itself, I'd recommend European Auto on Lincoln. I take mine there and the brothers are doing great work. Any of these three places could probably check your car out if you like to. And any of these three could do your belt changes and 30k mile service. I'd strongly recommend that you get yourself a copy of the Forza magazine, in which they did a buyer's guide for the Mondial spider. You'll learn all the pitfalls to look out for, what prices to pay for service, maintenance and purchase. |

I take my car to Continental in Hinsdale. They've done well by me but some others I have spoken to have differing opinions of Continental's service department. I would strongly recommend a pre-purchase inspection of the car. It'll be the best $300 or so you'll ever spend. If that car doesn't work out for you, you may also want to post a message on the main part of this board. You'll find some of the best cared for Ferraris anywhere on here, and maybe someone has a car for sale that you'd like. |

Hello All, I am contemplating the purchase of a mid-80's Mondiale Spider that has no comprehensive service history. What items should I look for when reviewing this car? Also, can anyone recommend a reputable service center to do work such as camshaft belt replacement and 30K mile service? I've always wanted a Ferrari, and now that I can afford the one I want, I want to make sure that I know what I'm getting into before I take the plunge.
