Yes,the digital cameras have become quite reasonable lately. I am DEFINITELY getting one. I am just not a technical guy. "Technologically Challenged",if you will. I am one of those guys that thinks that "less is more" when it comes to tech. If it's got more knobs and doodads than my TV,or Electric Guitar and Amp. Then,I'm lost! Please don't laugh. But,I JUST got "on line" this past Summer...at my 12 year old Daughters' insistence! Think,"Cheech and Chong",in my younger years. Long haired hippie type, playing guitar and partying. I'll show you some pictures sometime. If my mother-in-law ever saw,she would never think of me the same way! :-) And,you are more than welcome for the Leather conditioner and magazine. That magazine has ALOT more stuff in it in the warm months. LOTS of shows,racing,cruises,etc... Thats where I got all of that carshow information that I posted here. I had brought several more,as I thought that there were going to be more of "The Chicago Contingent" coming. Oh,and I was so mad at myself. I brought along the pictures from the Hooters show, and was going to show you the little Datsun. But,I forgot. Didn't notice until I was more than halfway home. Oh well...next time. I also have some pictures of the "Oscar Meyer Weinermobile",that my son and I saw on our way home from the show. One shot shows the hood of my Ferrari, and the Weinermobile up ahead. Pretty funny. I used a disposable, digital camera for these pix,and have a CD picture disc with all of the pictures. Same with our drive yesterday. If I knew how,I'd post them here on FChat. But,as I said,"Technologically Challenged". :-(

Oh and Frank, btw thanks for the leather cleaner and the magazine, which I already A-Z in the evening.

PS: Yes, get yourself a digital camera. They cost some $$$ at the beginning but in the long run save you time and money. Mine has become unseparable from me and my car.

And,also, please pardon my Over exhuberant rantings and ravings about our drive. But,I really get excited when I take my baby out for a drive,as it is. But,whenever I can get together with more, fellow Ferrari owners for a drive,en-force,...er...,en-Forza,I just can't contain my enthusiasm! As always...the more, the merrier! Got some GREAT pix, today,in digital form. Now,I know what I'm asking Mrs. to get me,for Christmas. One of those neato Digital Camera's! Once again,Thanks to ALL for a great day,and the comaradarie! We MUST due this more often!

Ah,yes. Fine dining! Thanks for turning me on to that great little place. They had some VERY good food, and a very nice, cozy atmosphere. Will put in in my rusty, crusty old memory bank, for the future. I haven't been up in that part of town for quite a while. We used to go up to some Punk Rock bars, back in the late 70's,early 80's,that were up in and around that area. Brings a smile to my face, just thinking about it!

Oh and Jack, many thanks for the swap. Not only do I have now a 328 drive in my 'collection', but this was also *VERY* interesting to compare to my QV. There is a reason for the price difference. I think FORZA actually got it wrong in their test review saying your 'seats of the pants can't tell the difference'. I disagree, you can indeed tell the difference in handling, braking and acceleration. Aside from all the other refinements. I love my car, but those 328s are way cool! Oh, and change than knob please. Will ya?

Thanks everybody for showing up and making this a very nice event. Will post pictures tomorrow, some turned out great (not all of course). My favourites are the ones from above.

Frank you missed one in your enumeration of what Ferraris are all about: Great dining! Or brunch.

The calendar needs some adjusting after this one. So be it.

Well, another fantastic day,and drive! The comaradarie that is FERRARI! I am very glad to have met everyone that I haven't met in person. Or,whom I have met, but, never got a chance to really talk to. THIS is what Ferrari is all about! Friends,DRIVING,and FERRARIS! I think that maybe we cast some Good Luck on the Bears,by driving our 5 Ferrari's around Soldier Field this morning. I just got in and fired up the 'puter, and TV,and see that they are ahead 24-8. But,with the Bears...you never know! And,maybe next drive,we can head out to the Northwest Territories, out Gisela and Helmut's way,for a nice drive up that a way. Still have some "decent" weather left. My Ferrari LOVES this cold, dense air. Got some great city skyline pix. Put life and limb at risk,(not the first time) for some Buckingham Fountain Pix. And,a fantastic brunch. Thank-you all for a great and memorable day. And,looking forward to many, many more. Now that we've got "The Chicago Contingent" rolling, can't wait until Spring! And,how we managed to keep 5 Ferrari's together, right in the heart of the City,is pretty phenomonal.

This just in: Gisela and Helmut are joining us too. Yipiie! Would you believe it? The 328s outnumber the 308s in a drive? Kewl!

So far we got 3 x 328 and 2 x 308. Just to be on the sure side I fired her up last night. That MR-2 engine from Japan works like a champ...

Tod, ANYBODY in Chicago can direct you to the fountain. Even the tourists: Downtown in Grant Park.

Sounds like a plan. So, if you guys see a black 328 driving around in circles, jump up and down and wave. Not real familuar with the city, but i think i can find it... :-) The weather channel says mostly cloudy today, could have fooled me, it looks very sunny outside now at 7:30...

Should be fun, anyone hear from anyone else to meet up downtown???

See everyone between 9-9:30 today.... I better start getting ready...

9:00 to 9:30 at the West side of Buckingham Fountain today.

Weather is perfect, trees are gorgeous. I'll bring my cameras.

We could go to brunch later on at THE ROOM on the North side. Jack knows the place as well, really cool. I'll bring the champagne.

Frank, we'll cover the planetarium together, so don't waste your energy.

I am going to TRY to leave my house in Oakbrook Terrace by 8:00AM,so I can TRY to get some pix by the Planetarium before it starts getting busy over there before the Bears game. But if it looks even remotely crowded,I'll pass. We can get some fantastic Skyline photo's at Montrose Harbor. Also, with The Lake in between, and in the background. Probably still some big boats in the Harbor. By the Fountain, too.

Yes,I got up this morning and knew immediately that it must be damp outside. As,my arthritis is really acting up this morning. But,I'll be O.K. for tomorrow. Going to the Gym and sit in the dry sauna for a while! Can't wait to see you guys. I have some stuff for everyone, too. A Motorsports News paper. This is the paper that shows all of the cruise nights and car shows. And some cool racing events.(though, not too many left, now). But,I am looking forward to checking out some Motorcycle "Ice Racing" events this winter. Also,I have some "Ekorness from Norway","Hide Bracer and Leather Conditioner" For your leather seats. See you tomorrow!

Park on Columbus and Congress, the West side of the fountain. We'll wait there till 9:30 then buzz off.

That sounds good.I was originally thinking of meeting by the Planetarium. It would have made for some fantastic pictures, with the Lake, and the Skyline in the background. And,usually not too many cars there on a Sunday A.M. Oh well...maybe another time. But,if there's a Bears game, probably not a good idea. One "plus",though,is that it's "turn the clocks back one hour on Sunday" So,meeting at 9:00AM,will feel more like 10:00AM. How about parking by the Buckingham Fountain on Columbus and Congress? Can get some good pictures there, too.I believe that they turn off the Fountain as of November 1st. (next Friday then would be the last day that it would be on,then...I think...but,not sure) We can cruise up North bound LSD to Montrose, and get some great "Skyline" backgrond shots there, too. And,Lake shots. Boat shots. Then...on from there...?

Thanks Kevin. Hmm, how about then meeting at 9am on the corner of Congress and Michigan? Not too much parking opportunities, but if we keep the gathering window short (say 9:00 to 9:15) we should be able to get away with it.

Tod, no idea whether there is a Bears game or not (don't follow any of these sports, to me there is only F1...). But at 9am I wouldn't expect much traffic even if there was a game. But maybe somebody else has the Bears schedule?

Weather reports improved with showers only late on Sunday.

So how about an early Sunday drive through downtown Chicago? We could meet in front of the Field museum (the small street between the South entrance to the Field museum and the North entrance to Soldier field) at say 9am?

Well,so far,the weather reports for this weekend don't look too favorable for a drive. So,I guess that all we can do is "play it by ear" and wait and see when it comes to the weekend. But,as long as it's not raining,(or snowing...which Channel 7's weatherman said could be possible) I don't care how cold it is. Both my Ferrari and I don't mind the cold air. So,I guess we'll have to find out when we wake-up Sunday A.M.

That sounds great,Kevin. I love driving around in Wisconsin. I actually have an old school buddy who moved up to Eagle River several years ago. And,he owns a Resort up there. I've been meaning to drive up there in my Ferrari to visit him and his family, especially,in the Fall for the colors. But,haven't had a chance. I also have a Grandfather that lives in Greenfield,(by Milwaukee) and am planning on going up to see him.(Gramps always has some ice cold PBR's in his fridge!) But,not in the Ferrari,as,I'm taking the wife and 2 kids along. Maybe need to add a Mondial Cab. to the stable sometime! A couple of my Uncle's just went up there and took Gramps to the Wolf River to do a little fishing. Also,my wife has some relatives up in the Lacrosse area.

Yeah,Tod. I am,literally, 5 minutes away from Continental. I bought my car at Lake Forest only because Continental did not have any 308's,or 328's when I was ready to buy,and L.F.S.C. had 2. But,I've heard conflicting stories about the quality of service at L.S.F.C. And,when I bought my 308 there, was talking to one of the auto tech's. I mentioned that I also had a Corvette, and had owned 6 prior. He told me,"I've owned 13 'Vettes, and 0 Ferrari's. So,that tells you how I feel about these cars". And,THAT was something that I really didn't want to hear! And,by all means,I am not bad mouthing them at all. But,at Continental,I believe that most of the Technicians are of Italian descent...JUST the guys I want working on my I-talian automobile! Next time that I see you, remind me to tell you another story that a guy-a doctor, who I know, and owns a Ferrari,- told me about them (LakeForest). It reminds me of another funny story that a guy I know once was relating. He said;"When I go out to a Chinese restaraunt,I want to see Chinese guys cooking my food. Not soul brothers!"(which he is) "And,when I go to a rib joint,I want to see Brothers making my food. Not some white suburban kids, like at Chili's or Fridays". "And when I go to a Mexican place,I want to see Mexicans making my food." And,I kind of feel the same way about my cars. If it's my All American,Apple Pie Chevrolet Corvette. I want a "Good ol'boy" working on it. And,with my Italian car, prefer Italian guys working on it. :-)

I will let everyone know how my experience is at Continental. I was going to take my car to Lake Forest, but they are on the other side of the planet. I was out driving last weekend and drove by Continental and didn't realize it was that close to me in Carol Stream...

They seemed very friendly on the phone. they were going to call me over the winter to set up an appointment. they said they will come get my car at my house with an enclosed trailer. WOW!

I will post pictures too....

Also,if anyone wants one, I'll bring you a bottle of Ekorness of Norway,"Hide Bracer" for your leather interiors. I worked, for many years,(years ago) at a Scandinavian Design type Furniture store. We sold very high qualty, and expensive, leather recliners,sofa's,etc... Made in Italy, and Norway. And,we sold some assorted leather care products that were made for the care of these leather furnishings. To keep it soft, supple, and nourished. Leather needs to "breathe" and the pores need to be kept clean. Anyway. If anyone wants a bottle, let me know, and I'll bring some out with me this weekend, and give you one to try out. I've used it on all of my leather goods, and am happy with the results.

Don! There you are! I was wondering what happened to you? You seemed to be pretty excited about the Hooter's car shows(not what they are all cracked up to be,so,you really didn't miss anything)but, haven't seen any posts,or you at the show that I did attend. We are planning on a drive sometime this weekend if you want to join. As far as Continental goes for service. I'd like to know, too. My car isn't ready for a major, yet. But,I have had oil changes there. And,from what I have heard, they have auto technicians there that "specialize" in a particular Ferrari,-what would you say,"type"-? Such as,there are guys there that specialize in 8 cylinder cars. Can work on all of them,but,308's,328's,etc...are their "specialty". I don't know if it's true or not. But,I have heard nothing but all good about their service dept. I am planning on bringing my car into their shop this winter for an inspection. Fluid change,etc... I have 3 years and 4500 miles on the last service,so,it will be due in the next couple of years.

Yes,Tod,you have to join us. We are rapidly running out of nice days, and, still have some nice Fall colors for backgrounds. I am also putting my car over at Continental this winter. It had a major service just under 3 years and 4,000 miles ago. But,I want a thorough "going over". Check all hoses, clamps, torque settings, change ALL of the fluids, filters, grease, wheel bearing inspection and grease, whatever it may need,etc...

Never mind.... Just talked to the Service Manager at Continental, Very friendly and he suggested i schedule it in the winter. He said he would pick it up at my house with an enclosed trailer and then when finished bring it back to my house... He said i can also stop by anytime to get pictures of it when in or he said he could do that too for me...

His name is Gary and he said he would schedule it for Todd to do the work on it...

Well, i better start on my laundry list for the car now while it's in, like getting the A/C looked at....

Well, it's just convincing the Girlfriend now to do a cruise, i think she had other plans for us this next weekend, maybe i should send her some more flowers???? :-)

I was thinking about going downtown and taking some snapshots of my car by Buckingham Fountain,as,I believe that they turn it off very soon-Nov.1st.,maybe? Then,up L.S.D.(oh no! flashbacks!.....just kidding!) Then, maybe over by the Planetarium for more pix with the city skyline in the background. Then,up to Montrose Harbor for some more pix with the city and the boats and the lake in the background. Then...Route66 drive? All the way out. (no,not all the way to L.A. Not this time, anyway!) Or,up Sheridan Rd.? Check out L.F.S.C.'s new digs. Through the Ravines and all the way up to Wisconsin? I don't know. It all kind of depends on the weather,as in which day,and where. But,if anyone else would like to join me,just post here on this thread, and we can figure out a time and day and where.
