Dale,

The a/c actually does work, but I'm not sure about any cold air coming out of it. Tune-ups can be done on your own- points, condenser, rotor, cap, plugs all available and easy to do. Or switch to a magnetic/optical electronic ignition and forget the points and condenser. $50 will buy you a nice set of tire valve caps, but Superformance in the UK has been shipping me everything I need at reasonable prices (much cheaper than here).

Go for it, it's a blast to drive. I've even tracked it a few times. Definitely the sexiest F-car in recent history.

>>The fit in the Dino is excellent for me. Have done a few 200-300 mile trips with only minor lower back pain, but that's correctible with a cushion in the seats. Seats are not stock, are thinner and lower, but beautifully done with plenty of support and soft leather.
Reverse gear? Who uses reverse gear?<<

Next thing you're gonna be telling me that Dinos blow ice cold air and a tune up costs only $50, ha!

Actually, you give me hope. I sure do like Dinos...

Solly, I'm sure that you are a honorable man, but you must be smoking some wacky weed to say that you fit in a Dino. Come on, I'm 6'2" and about 240#, and, while I can get in a Dino, driving one has got to be another story. For example, how do you shift into reverse? Do an underhand pass to your passenger, ha!

Actually, I hope you're right. I love the style of the Dinos... just don't fit, <sigh>

Have any of you sat in an F40. I cannot find any locally to go see. Is it worth traveling somewhere to try one on or will it be too small?
Thanks,

just over 6'4", 270 lbs. Tried every current Ferrari and many of the older ones. I fit in the 360 with no problems at all, even have 1-2" clearance with the top up. Also have 1-2" in the 360 Challenge, so the 360 coupe is probably the same. Also fit easily in my Dino, but couldn't get comfortable in the 550 or 456. Cannot get into a 355 Challenge, but probably could fit in a street 355. Rented a 348 for a week and fit, but wasn't that comfortable.

But it really depends upon what you want- a GT car (550/575/456) or a street racer (355, 360). You could definitely put aftermarket "racing" seats in a 550/575 and fit, but they wouldn't be that comfortable for long drives.

Ed;

Your best bet is to try several cars out and see what you like. I have found what works for some people does not work you others. I myself am 6'4" with the build of an out of shape pro football player. There are vehicles that i can fit into with out a problem but other that are shorter than myself have problems. A good example of this is myself and my father he is 3" shorter than myself He fits fine in his Toyota Tacoma truck i have to wad myself up in a ball. He sits in my Chevy S-10 and he cannot see over the dash yet his knees are wedged into the dash panel. There are many factors here length of your arms, legs, midsection that will have a bearing on your choice. For myself i have to look more towards a 2+2 Ferrari for comfort factors to allow myself to take a long drive in one.

It is my understanding that the 456 can be configured for just about anyone, if you don't mind spending the money. I believe Shaq had one...

I think in extreme cases, they take out the rear seat and extend the seat rails, and then there is as much room as you want.

Thanks for all of the input, I am going to look into the "tall man conversion." When trying these cars on, I found that the sport seats in the 360 were lower profile than the regular ones which made more headroom. Are sport seats available in the 575 or could the ones from the 360 be installed? Also, I have some relatives in the 6'6"-6'9" range, is there anyone on the board other than Bill Hansen (I liked the M3 too) that can speak from the 6'6"+ perspective?
Thanks again,
ED

Ed,

I have an F355 B. I'm 6'1 - 240 with football player build, (broad shoulders and big legs). I'm comfortable once i'm in! Getting into the car is somewhat a chore. (I always feel like I'm searching where to put my hands, my ass, my leg. Do I slide down the seat, put my hand on the console...see what I mean!)

I'm 6'6" and researching..so far i've found only the 360 and 550/575 have barely enough head room...but the 360 has a wheel well that decreases the leg room for your left foot...the 550/575 doesnt have this problem...and i have ruled out the 1960's 330/365's that everyone says will fit me...so the winner for best fit for a very tall person is the 550/575...in addition..although the 456 has limited room...the salesman at F of SF says they configured a 456 for a 6'10" NBA player buy removing the seat rails and bolting the seat directly to the floor(permanent location)..which means he can't go valet! And current issue of CAR from the UK shows great sketches of next years 460...awesome styling compared to 456.... Anyway..i'm saving for a 550 i think...but the thought of trading in my 2003 M3 doesnt agree with me yet..i love that car!! And i fit!! But i want a 2002 550 silver with stick*

6'4", much of it in the legs. I can't fit in an airline coach seat, but I fit the 328 just fine. (Better now that I'm used to it.)

I had the same problem with the 308s I tried on -- I'd fit, but I couldn't carry the Targa top.

The tall man conversion is out of a place in Longwood Florida. I can not think of the name right now but I will post it when it comes to me.

I'm only 5'8", but, if you want a Mondial they have plenty of headroom. Just make sure your shoe size is small to work the pedals.

I am 6'3" . Own a 308 and fit fine. Had to roll the seat ALL the way back and turn the adjustment knob all the way down so that my seat is all the way back and down enough to fit. Cant put the targa top in behind my seats when its like that,though.. I can see where the pedals could be altered ,too, so that they are closer to the front firewall, making even more leg room. There USED to be a place in Florida that did, what they called; "Tall Man conversions" for exotic cars. Think of all of the NFL and especially,NBA athletes who want exotics, too.

6'2 and have a 575. I have never felt comfortable in any Ferrari until I sat in a 550, bought it. The 360 spider has more room than the hard top version, but I still prefer the 575 as my daily drive.

Just got in a Murcielago and am almost comfortable, OK for around town, enough so that we bought one of these too.

I am 6'4" and about 220 lbs. I fit fine in the 308, 328. 550 had more than enough room while the 355 was a little tight. Unfortunately the Testarossa was too small. YMMV

I'm 6'4". I found the 360 coupe to be fine, although I didn't drive it.

The 348/355GTSs don't work for me, and the 355tb is pretty tight. The 456 works great. I can even have my kids (6 and 3 years old) in the back seats without a problem.

I am 6'4" and I may be looking for a Ferrari in the next six months or so. I have sat in several with mixed results on the fit. All of the Lambos were not even close (and I would much rather have a Ferrari anyway). The TR was too small, was was the 348. The 355 berlinetta was ok but the gts targa apparatus got in the way of my head. Head room in the 360 was good but the leg room was a little tight. Ferrari of Atlanta did not have a 550 or 575 but they seemed to think that they would be larger inside. How tall are you guys? Are there any larger models that I might find more accomodating? Thanks for your help.
ED
