This thread in kinda "off topic", I think it should be the first example to be deleted :-)

This was really just a scare tactic. I don't have much spare time for a 5 second delete or a one minute move. :-)

Barney.... I didn't think you were even allowed to post in this section. Now get back over to Tech Q & A!! :-)

Good call DES. Agree with Rob I do, but this one belongs in "off topic" as well.

I made a mistake recently of posting an "off topic" thread, and I felt like a fool later on. I think that's punishment enough, but then again, if the thread is removed then we are all saved from having twenty million "off topic" responses including pictures. That for me is reason enough to delete 'em.

Now I think twice before posting anything, but you know what? My posts still come out kinda stupid.

Robert's right Rob; you need to delete any thread with the word 'Ferrari' in the Off Topic area.

Rob,
agree although recently I have been guilty of doing it myself. Was a mistake though, thought I was in off-topic.

The other question is, why is it soooo horrible if there is one every now and then?
We can all zip by them and do not have to respond.

Those tricky ones are not okay though. Like "Gascaps" You look and find out the guy is talking about selling hats from a Chili Cookoff in New Mexico.

Of course I agree with Rob's policy.

But to me the bigger question is:

What do you do when a thread goes off topic?

Something starts out with F content and either slowly drifts off or gets hijacked. Do you kill an otherwise perfectly good thread? Or just kill the last few posts (probably too much work to monitor)?

What really pisses me off is all those Ferrari related threads in the off topic area. Like I have time to hang out over there too! :-)

I also agree on 2 counts, firstly it is Rob's board and secondly I like to read "off topic" in exactly that forum.
best regards

Rob,

Have you thought about adding more moderators to the board (ie Wayne)? That might help take some of the burden off you and still be able to keep the threads that might contain some useful info

Just a thought,
Pat

What does this have to do with Ferraris...? Hmmmm... Methinks this is an off-topic topic...

I delete them!

Only takes 5 seconds to delete a thread, but about a minute for me to login to admin, move the thread, regenerate the page, and sort it.
