Mine was built Jan 2000... so, it couldn't have been too "mid" year. Does anyone else have a 360 that doesn't automatically put itself into neutral when you turn the key to start it? |

Willian, It is not really an issue. Just put in in N before you start the car. Or, do what I do, put it in N before you turn it off. No biggie. Ernesto |

Does this mean that on the F355 F1 this issue was apparent? I need to know as I am considering purchasing an F355 F1 Spider! |

Sorry, forgot to say my model year: 2000. So, I am assuming this was improved somewhere mid-year 2000. Interesting... Ernesto |

What year is your 360? Maybe they did change it. Mine if you turn the car off in gear, it will still be in gear when you start it. You have to flick both paddles to get it back into N. Ernesto |

My 360 automatically puts itself in neutral when you turn the key to the start position. I never manually put the car in neutral to start it... the car handles that part. So, which of us has the defective car? Or did Ferrari change this behavior? |

It has to be the first gear thing I mentioned. If you arrive somewhere and just turn off the car, it will stay in 1st. Then, when you go turn in on, it will not do so because it is in gear. You have to flick both paddles to get it into neutral. This happened to me a few times. Will also happen if you stall the car when driving. You have to get it back into N to start. The big question is: Will the car crank, or will it do nothing, when you turn the key? Ernesto |

if ti wasnt the alarm system i would be very annoyed..a new ferrari with 600miles not starting is seriously making me wonder what kind of a part would break almost after it was put in the car, and even more, why ferrari would use a part with that kind of craftsmenship |

I would think it would still be under warranty. Is this the first time the owner is going to see the car? I wouldn't be to happy to receive a 160K plus car that doesn't run. Too much turning when the engine won't light will harm the starter too. |

As far as I know, all Ferraris have at least 100 miles (I think the actual number is closer to 120 mi.) put in due to factory road testing before they even leave the factory. I would be worry of a new F-car with less than those many miles. |

To Hell with a car that the owner cannot even drive due to the launch sequence. |

Yes, it can be tricky. The alarm system will automatically arm up after a bit... and arming up includes cutting off fuel to the engine. Using the remote, lock and then unlock; now you can be sure its disarmed. Stick the key in the ignition and turn it on (but don't start it yet). Wait until the display says Check OK... make sure your foot is pushing the brake pedal down some (if you've pushed it and released, then it'll be charged and you'll have to push real hard to get it to go down enough!), then start the engine. Forget any piece of that and you may have to start over! |

If you have the key in the ingition and walk away from the car for I think 30 seconds the car will arm itself, but you will still be able to open the doors. If the little red light is on my the trip computer buttons depress the button on the key one time, the lights will flash and the red light will go out and the car will start. The car will also arm itself if you do not lock it, then you push the key button once and the same thing the lights will flash and the car is unarmed. |

Regardless of new or not by definition, I would call the dealership and arrange them to pick it up and work on it. It should still be under warranty. |

>> Close enough. I thought a car had to be under 100(?) miles to be considered new, because thats the maximum amount of delivery miles a car should have. << A car is considered new when it has yet to be titled. I have seen "new" Ferrari's with mileage well above 100. It all depends on how much testing they've done before shipping. |

The car has to be in Neutral for it to start, if it is in gear it will not crank. Also, press your foot on the brake. Ernesto |

How long was the car in storage? Was it hooked up to a trickle charger?

I went and helped a friend deliver a brand new 360 Spyder (600 miles), and we get there, open the storage room and try and crank it up. It doesn't start. We try again. Nothing. It is the F1 transmission by the way. Is there some trick?? Anyway, we finally get it started after about 10 minutes, doing nothing different. So, my friend delivers the car for a guys B-day. Well, once again, the car won't start. Whats up with that? Then he told me that the car died while driving it and he had to push it to the side of the road. Then it started again and it was ok. Any ideas? |
