| | | Note: I am an individual seller, not a dealer. This is a 1986 Ferrari Mondial. It has a 3.2 litre quattrovalve engine with 8 cylinders. It was originally sold in Italy, and somewhere along the way it was imported into the U.S. That is why you may never see this color combination on another Mondial--it is very rare, nonetheless. There are a couple differences to run of the mill Mondials: 1) the European version had 10 more horsepower; 2) a few of the body pieces are slightly different--the rear exhaust cover is nicer on these, for instance; and 3) the speedometer has been changed out to read in Miles Per Hour, but the odometer is still in kilometers. The kilometer reading is 92,000, or about 58,000 miles. This would average about 3200 miles per year. Perfect! It was driven but not too much or too little. I bought the car from a dealer in Florida, where the previous owner ran a security firm. Because of California's hyper-strict smog controls, which are by far the toughest in the nation, I have chosen to sell the car, rather than make the local smog shop rich. I own the car outright and can pass unencumbered title. A few additional notes: tires are Michelins and will need to be replaced before long (everyone is going to the HRE wheels and Pilot Sports).
The previous owner had records from Jan 2000. Excluding routine oil changes here are the highlights:
1/00 Timing Belt Set, Clutch Pad, O-ring seal, CV Joint Boot $303 1/00 New belts, including water pump, alternator, cam belt tensioner bearing, and AC $272 4/00 60K service, including 2 tensioners, 16 intake and 16 exhaust valves $7,924 9/00 Replace A/C blower motor; fuse relay box; and repair rear CV axle assembly $3,426 4/01 Replace water pump, recharge AC system, replace sunroof seals 8/03 Coil module replaced and electrical connectors tightened $920
This is $14,544 worth of work done since Jan 2000! Any Ferrari buyer wants to know about the cam belt replacement. This car had it done on 4/6/00 at 85,804 kilometers. It has 91,876 km today. That means there is only 6,072km (or 3773 miles) since the cams were replaced! The best information today suggests a replacement every 7 years or every 30,000 miles, so you're good to go for a while. The previous owner also installed a Sony stereo with CD changer (see photos). The back seats look like they've never been used, the front seats show standard wear for a 1986 F-car. The 2+2 seating is nice because everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, wants to ride with me! The sound of the engine behind you is the best part of owning a Ferrari. The Mondial is a good first Ferrari because they are reasonably priced, relatively speaking. Insurance was remarkably inexpensive. The Mondial is basically the Ferrari 308 (with Bosch fuel injection) with a different body and a few upgrades--the Mondial was considered the luxury Ferrari. This car is sold as is where is. I'm happy to facilitate its pickup by a transport company (I used Dependable Auto Shippers from Florida to California, they were great). If you want a Honda, then buy a Honda--don't buy a Ferrari. If you want a car unique to the other play cars out there, this may be the one for you. Vin # ZFFWD21B000059167.
