Thanks, Mike. Very nice pictures. 135 cars was quite the turnout. You might need to find a larger venue for next year.

Yes I like the car. Can't really buy another car right now. I just bought another one in June. It is nice. I was looking at TRs (80s) but I don't fit in them at all. It is way too tight in there for me. Thanks.

The blue 348 owners name is Todd Reed, a super nice guy. He is selling to get a 360 coupe. The car is in excellent shape. Greg, if you need more info let me know, I am helping him sell the car.

Mike, I was in the Titanium (silver blue) Ferrari that passed your caravan and then kind of stayed ahead a little ways. I sent you a PM.

Vince,

I didnt get all of the names of the people in the caravan. Were you in the black Ferrari? We had a Ferrari, a Maserati, and one Alfa in the string of Italian cars.

Ive started the construction of the 2003 Atlanta Italian Car Day webpage for Pantera Place and it can be viewed at http://www.panteraplace.com/page166.htm The show was fantastic with the largest attendance of Italian cars to date. The weather was prefect and Im sure that added to the large turnout. The page is a work in progress and Ill be adding information and images for the all the marques soon.

Vince, thanks for the positive comment about our de Tomaso caravan. Im the caravan organizer and was in the lead scarlet red de Tomaso Pantera. You must have been in the silver blue Ferrari that we saw along the route. Weve been doing the caravan to the show for three years now and it is a lot of fun.

Im sorry that you had parking problems. They did have parking available for cars that did not want to register for the show in another parking area that was safe for exotics. It was the area where the car photos were taken and there was a photographer (Ferrari owner) in the lot throughout the show time.

I got there early and turned around. I couldn't stay the whole day and they didn't have provisions for short-time folks like me except to park on the street. Maybe next time.

The Pantera caravan was probably one of the best handled caravans I have seen in a long time. They can be proud. Should teach some othe folks how to caravan properly.

It looks like I'll be at Italian Car Day after all. The Aces symposium and dinner is friday night, so IM in luck!

Ive met Gunther Rall before, even got to speak with him one on one for about 30 minutes. We were at the Smithsonians Garber facility in DC viewing the restoration shops. We were due to see Rall and some other Eagles speak that evening. Turns out he was also touring Garber and we bumped into him... I was floored. We were watching a Hurricane being worked on and he starts telling me stories about different encounters and Hurricanes he shot down during the war. When he had to excuse himself, we shook hands. Something was funny feeling... I looked down to see he is missing 2/3 of his thumb. He tells me it was shot off by a .50 cal round that hit him as he was bailing out of his ME-109 having been shot down by a P47. He was also burned as the plane exploded under him. He says it saved his life because the thumb got infected and he spent the last 6 months of the war in a hospital. If he had remained on flight status during that time it extremely unlikely he would have lived. During that period his unit suffered 120% casualties.

Anyhow.... Amazing pilots. I cant wait to meet Bud Anderson. His book "To Fly and Fight" is probably the best autobiography of a WWII fighter pilot I have ever read.

Presuming weather isn't a problem, I expect we'll have at least a 308QV and a 328 coming from Huntsville.

Hey Everybody,

Still looking for another F-car since I sold my Dino. I am looking at an '84 Boxer in Jax, a '74 246GTS in Chicago and 355's all over. Picky Picky Picky. Any how - hope to see you at the show

Terry,

I saw Gunther Rall, Chuck Yeager and 12 other "Eagles" at the Air Command and Staff College graduation 14 years ago. What a treat!

Grrrrrrrrrrr dunno if Ill make it or not. A new fly-in community in Clayton is having a grand opening event and dinner. My father got us tickets. Bud Anderson, Chuck Yeager, Gunther Rall, Robin Olds will all be there speaking and signing autographs. Rall is the highest scoring ace still alive, 275 confirmed air to air victories. Yeager and Anderson both flew P51s with the 357th Fighter Group... Anderson a 16 victory ace. Robin olds was not only a P51 ace but also flew F105s in Vietnam. A steller group of heros to meet and hear old war stories from!
