Edward, you must have to replace a lot of food in your refrigerator when you go on holiday ! And, you must get a lot of busted pipes in your house when you are at work in the winter.

Guy's;
Came home from a day trip to CT to find my basement full of thick smoke and the alarm going off. I went down to the basement and it smelled like an electrical fire. Turned off the fuse panel for the A/C unit and back up the alarm call to 911. After we purged the smoke we found that the bearings sezed in the blower unit, and it did not trip the thermocouple and kept running. It had started 10 min before I got home. The FD estimates that if the smoke detector did not set the alarm off, 30 min more it would have been a structure fire. I am having the blower replaced today (only 8 years old). Please check the units for oil, grease (mine was zero service required), or for funny noises. No major damage, but smoke...could have been worse.
