Hi Dan,

Welcome to the site. How did you do on Sunday? I saw many Ferraris that day, but I do remember yours. It was in great shape; beautiful. Ive already started work on my car. The loose drivers door stop and rear deck latches are repaired. New Goodyear Eagles are on the way, so Ill have the stock rims on very soon. Im pulling the seats this weekend and steam cleaning the carpeting. Then on to the leather, which is in great shape but just needs a good cleaning and conditioning. After all that, I have to bear down and really focus on detailing the engine. My 22,500k service is coming up, but I may wait until the end of the summer; all fluids were changed recently.

Im still riding the wave. Nothing you do on this car can be considered a waste of time. I discover something new, a line, a curve, everytime I wash it, or just walk into the garage.

Congrats!

this is my first message ever on any ferrari
website, so hello to all!

I met you at reading (88 red 328gtb,41k miles). I have had mine since 2/2000 so I know the euphoria of just buying one. Enjoy the rewarding feeling you will get by fixing the little things and getting the car "just right".

Thanks Peter. Weve had about four days of miserable, rainy weather, but as soon as irt clears Ill resume my responsibilities as the friendly neighbor who gives free rides in his Ferrari. Its been a great two weeks.

The door stop itself, and while Im at it, why not replace the pin?

The door stop itself or just the pin?
I have no experience with the latches and the seat backs.

Thanks. I have a few little items that I have to deal with. The AC fan switch works, but is on the way out. That can wait. I have to repair/replace the two rear deck latches. Has anyone ever done this before? Also, the drivers door stop has to be replaced, and the drivers seat back mechanism is wobbly. Im going to tackle them one at a time, enjoying every moment.

Welcome in the club, Lens.
In a previous thread you were asking how to remove the center console to get at the A/C switch.
I see now, that I answered you as if you were talking about a GTS, which has a different center console compared to the GTB. I think the procedure is the same, however, so I would expect you to have no problems. I also wrote, that you need to remove the shifter gate. My mistake, the top of the GTS center console comes off by just undoing the two screws inside the ashtray and the two screws under the two middle switches of the four to the rear of the console.
The best of luck with your new car.
brgds Kurt

Well guys, I did it. Picked up my 1986 328 GTB on Monday. I ended up dealing directly with the owner, but thats a different story. Its absolutely gorgeous. Im still in shock. Ive spent the last two days giving friends and neighbors rides. I want to start detailing the interiornot that it needs much, its in such great shape. Then Ill start on the engine. I just have to wait until I get over the euphoria, if that ever really happens. Im going to the Reading Concours this weekend, but probably wont bring the car. I have to have it inspected, and thats going to be somewhat of an inconvenience due to the missing cat. Ill try to post some photos ASAP.
