Ironically, the women who don't like a bikini-clad woman standing abreast (pun intended) a Ferrari also pay $5-$10 for an issue of Cosmopolitan that has a scarcely-clad woman on the cover and is 90% advertisements with naked/half-naked women advertising fingernail polish or wrinkle cream. It's one thing if sexy women get guys' attention. But they catch the attention of women even more. So don't blame us. At least we're wired by nature to look. They're programmed by culture and driven by jealousy. Meanwhile, the models make a great dollar. Sure sound exploited to me. | ||

Dave, Models and modeling in general is very self aware, no one is there b/c they are naive or b/c someone has hood-winked them into it; some may argue certain levels or pornography as such, but modeling is different, at least thats what the 'producer' told me..err. Anyway, I have a number of friends -female- that do model for elle and elite and work out of NYC, and none of them aren't aware of why they have the vocation they do: they're beautiful, period. Not everyone is, and they choose to do the work that is offered to them, the context of which they can accept or refuse. Anyway, be it a sports illustrated swimsuit calender, a victorias secret catalaog, fendi ad, versace, whatever, beautiful women -in this context- are a 'useful'-using the term loosely as not to objectify- and provocative means of product endorsment; and since the 'exotic' car owner demographic is composed mainly of men, the calander is tailor to that group. Just like gereatiric product commercials are filled with elderly actors, younger demographic products are slotted with young kids, etc., it's the essence of marketing, associating your product w/ the consumer, true? Well, why not associate expenisve- as- houses exotic cars w/ beautiful women? Tell your wife this: for the same job, in modeling world, I would-simply b/c Im male- would get paid half the hourly wage if not LESS than my female counterpart, everytime. If that doen't equilibrate the gender bias at least a little bit, she's too far bent. | ||

Oh, puh-LEEZE! David Jones, I will be 41 next week, and I still like ot look at pretty ladies. I am married to one, but that doesn't mean I don't like to look. But that's all I do! And my wife looks at handsome guys, as well. And the fact is that sex sells, and the majority of exotic car buyers are guys. So tell your wife not to look at ECW's site if it offends her! And the same goes for you! No one forced either of you people to look there, and no one asked for the self-righteous judgementalism that followed. Please forgive me for my strong words, but I have had it up to here with hypocritical people (I am not labeling Dave as such, but he really struck a chord) who think that not only does their merde not stink, but it emits Chanel perfume. And that they get to dictate to those who aren't "enlightened" enough to see their point of view. With folks like this, it's their way or the highway. If people don't want to see what he calls "explotation of women to sell cars", then DON'T LOOK! Turn off your computer, turn off your TV, but don't allow their narrow minds to try to regulate what legal material the rest of us view. Ferraris and beautiful women go together. They are the 2 finest things in the world. Nobody can see either pass you on the street without turning your head in admiration. If you have a Ferrari it's easier to get beautiful women, also if you have a beautiful woman it's easier to get beautiful women. The visual sensation of seeing the two together is incredible. Just tell the wife if I didn't like looking at beautiful women I wouldn't be with you. I think Erotic Car World has the right idea. ;) | ||

Actually, one of the guys that was slobbering over them in his TR got a date with one for the next night! They were really catty towards my wife. When the gig was done and they got back into their 10 year old Hondas, my wife got in the 328 with me. Honestly, the girls were really nice. They were model types, not stripper types. | ||

IMHO it's the guys who fall all over the women who are making the fools of themselves. I'm sure the girls go home laughing about all the overweight cotton heads they wound up. I understand that many have a similar view point as you and I can respect your opinion, although I personally don't agree. I'm 28 and married, but appreciate beautiful sights, like scenery, artwork, cars, and women. My wife has no problem and isn't threatened, it's just who we are and I don't expect anyone else to be like us. From a business perspective I believe the models are a brilliant idea. Look at the target market of exotic car buyers and the somewhat originality of the idea. For those that aren't in 100% favor of it, I don't think Exotic Car World throws it in your face. You have to dig through the site or intentionally show up to one of their events. They don't have bikini models walking around all the time. Although I might like that. ;) I guess for our purposes I would ask those to take from Exotic Car World what you want. For you that may just be supporting a FerrariChat.com sponsor in the future. For others that may be the same plus getting their calendar or attending an event. Let me know if I'm being unreasonable. | ||
