In addition
Yes I did buy 4 items an ignition key, door key, wheel cap and seal, that was alot of work I am sure pulling them off the parts bins and putting a label on my plain envelope

I have a street sweeping and water truck company with a large number of trucks so I am constantly buying parts from all over the country for my trucks many of them 100s of lbs and requiring special packaging, no one has ever billed me a handling charge to ship parts and to top it off come across so arrogant and patronizing when I want to know why

Tino,

You were very professional and courteous whan I spoke to you about this problem

The problem I had was Daves attitude about the handling charge which I felt should have been explained to me upfront, I asked Dave on a prior occasion why the shipping was so high he explained the 6.00 COD and 9.00 shipping nothing about the handling charge , I would not have a businees if I treeated my customers that way

I stand by my post

Paid $68 for a key blank here in Portland.Think I'll move to Seattle since things seem less expensive there.

Tino I run an auto repair business and at times a customer gets upset and I believe as you that we should all treat each other with dignity and respect.
However we all don't get a chance to state the facts and our position as you have been able...good for you.

In defense of Ferrari of Seattle:

I bought a $45 key blank from them 6 months ago, asked them to put it in a regular envelope, sent it down and charged me 33 cent stamp. It was done. Just my experience.

Tino, nice to have you here, thank you for sharing. I went by Ferrari of Seattle on a recent trip, was given the grand tour. Very nice. The salesperson knew I was from out of town but that I own a 308.

My more local Ferrari dealer is also "customer caring". I always call them first when I need anything before I start checking elsewhere. I'm never treated poorly just because I have a lowly 308 rather than one of the newer more expensive cars. Your salesperson giving me the tour was the same way, and I appreciate it.

I didn't know that many employees from the Dealerships read the posts on the site. Are others on this site that haven't posted yet from different dealerships?

good to hear both sides. Tino nice to have you on board, would be interested in your perspective on some other topics - I realize you may be limited in what you can discuss

Mr. Ryerson-
This is Tino Perrina of Ferrari of Seattle. You and I spoke on the telephone over the $4.32 handling charge not the $5.00 handling charge. I would like to repeat so that everyone can see the other side of the story and not only your side.
So to begin I will start with FACTS. First of all you purchased 4 items and not only two as you mentioned. 2-you requested COD therefore the $6.00 COD charge from UPS 3-it takes a lot more than just dropping the parts into an envelope as you are stating consequently the $4.32 handling. 4-UPS charged $4.79 to ship your four items for a total shipping and handling of $15.11 5-you swore at Doug via telephone 6-I offered to reimburse you for the $4.32 handling charge once your check cleared since you made the statement that you were going to stop payment on your check over $4.32. 7-you warned me that you, according to your words to me, "have a big mouth and will talk and tell everyone"
In conclusion, I apologize once again if you were not informed about the handling charge but I will repeat that I offered to reimburse you for it this one time. We are human and deserve respect as you do.
I thank those of you who took the time to support us in this chat and I hope that I didn't come accross as being arrogant but simply trying to share some facts so that you can make your own opinion.

While it seems like I always have a car there, I'm happy. I've spent plenty of time w/doug with my 456 battery episode (separate thread) and I don't think they're sending me a bill for his time (or they better not!). When I want to know whats up with the 360GT, mike will shoot the for a few minutes. But, when I needed some of this "you can't find it anywhere" shell helix 5w-40 oil, tino (or cory) ships it to me. When I need my racecar ready and delivered at point xyz on day xyz and picked up point xyz day xyz it happens. When I need to get a new fire extinguisher or harness and make sure the car is going to get though tech, I tell them to get it done and it gets done. If I need to pick up a roof for a car they'll send someone to take care of it. When I blow up a tire and need a new one ready for the upcoming race weekend, it magically all happens and i don't have any problems.

Sure it's not the cheapest way to get it all done but it gets done and i'm happy with it (well except they didnt give me an enzo) and I dont have to dicker around with any of the bullcrap i would expect from most any other dealer i've encountered.

Don't be too discouraged. Write this one off to experience and check for all fees upfront in the future. Might I suggest "TRutlands"? There you will discover good prices & good service on original Ferrari Parts.

From time-to-time I'm also taken by that one stupid part that costs, like, $450 bucks. When it arrives, it is usually missing some other little part that attaches to it. Now, that one little part never exists in the parts manuals and is almost always made of Unobtanium- a very rare material indeed. So, take the hits when they come and be appreciative when some small item your looking for ends up being $13.95 and only a day away.

Good luck.

Unusual IMHO

I get parts from them all of the time, Dave is very good to deal with and has always gone the extra mile to let me know what parts are in New Jersey and what parts need to be ordered from overseas. In addition, when parts are "common" he has suggested local resources when Ferrari specific parts would cost significantly extra. (ie, the glue to hold the rearview mirror in place)

Also, no idea where you live but have never had trouble getting keys cut from blanks...

I purchased a new key blank and wheel center cap from Seattle Ferrari had the package shipped COD and was suprised with the 92.00 bill

They shipped the parts in a small envelope and charged me 15.00 shipping 6.00 of it COD

When I asked DAN or DAve whomever the parts mgr is he stated they charge a 5.00 handling fee to put the parts in the envelope and address it, wow poor babys really have to put in the effort

When I told him this was pure BS he goes on about how he needs to make his dept profitable and I have no clue as to his operating costs are

I told him he was full of **it , who cares about 5.00 but be upfront and dont be a **ick when confronted about hidden charges

It would seem to me they should upfront about hidden costs and be be grateful for my business and hope to keep me as a happy customer when I need more parts but this parts mgr came across as very arrogant and a you can take your business elsewhere attitude

Are all Ferrari dealers this way? I hope not

In addition the key was a uncut steel blank and I took it to serveral locksmiths who said no one in town would cut it, since I had dealt with the Porsche dealer before on my previous ride I took it there and the parts dept cut it for no charge, now thats service
