I'd definetly vote for CHANGING it!! I know the reasons for the current method, but like I said before until every post in every thread is read at the time they are posted, it doesn't make sence. The amount of traffic this board gets now makes this method obsolete. You STILL have to scroll down and start reading back up. If anyone says that don't have to, they aren't reading the whole thread....cause very rarely is only a few posts added anymore. A lot of these people that are voting keep it how it is probably have NO idea how much easier it is to read from top to bottom. It's NOT fun skimming messegas down as you are scrolling UP. At the very least like has been mentioned a few times....a preferences to toggle order would be GREAT. |

Why not give one the option? Maby built into ones profile perhaps? This german one has it on the very bottom right... http://www.carpassion.com/de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4153 It's from the: Ever won a 360? threat http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/152067.html?1035582133 |

Rob - the "push down" stack, where new entries are at the top and push everything down is most appropriate. HOWEVER, I reiterate the need to create subcategories by model or engine. For example, categories for 3x8, 4xx, 365, Boxer, TR, Dino, 360, etc. There are too many entries under one general heading of "Technical" or "General". This would not preclude scanning categories of non-interest, but it would allow those focused on a particular model to efficiently scan areas of interest. While available, the "Search" feature is cumbersome in that it returns too many threads, and Boolean filtering may lead to missing the one entry that you really needed. Just one opinion from an appreciative participant. Jim S. |

There's a Texas saying -- "We don't care how you did it up North" Same thought here. It's not broke, don't fix it. You might think about adding a new link up top where it says |FerrariAds|Members|etc that says "Why is this backwards?" Then explain that's just how it's done here. You could always point to the Fish Plate thread or the "Honest Opinion on the Corvette" thread as examples.

Honestly I would like to see a switch to vbulletin. I run it on one of my sites (http://discussion.treocentral.com/tcforum/) and it is great. One if the best features is the ability to "Go to first new post" of any thread that has new posting. You just click on the arrow the page loads and skips instantly to the earliest post that you have not read yet in that thread. It also has a great "View New Posts" since last visit. |

Yes, I think a choice would be great. I personally would like to see it the other way. Just because if a post is long you read it from top to bottom, then you have to scroll up again to read the next message, etc. It is just awkward and goes against the way we read, top to bottom.

If possible let me set my preference. If not at least post the initial comment on top and then list the most recent reply and so on with the oldest reply last. Scrolling through all the replies before reaching the initial post is somewhat unorthodox (I am trying to use a nice word to describe a confusing feature). |

I like this way. Other boards you have to scroll past the same messages every time you check a post to see replies, get's annoying IMO. This way I usually just scroll down until I see my name which is a different color b/c I looked at my profile, and then know where to start reading from. |

once i'm here it doesn't bother me, but if i stay away for a few days and then come back i'm totally confused for a few minutes finding new stuff :-). maybe i'm just an idiot though ;-) seriously, the boards that do "normal" ordering all have a way to get into a thread "at the first message i have not read yet". without that functionality, it's a pain in the patootskies. i'm guessing this board s/w does not have that functionality, so...... my two pennies. doody. |

Time to time I get feedback from people use to how every other message board in the world is structured. That is oldest to newest message order. My reason for newest to oldest is to make it more efficient how you scroll through messages. If you only visit a thread once, then old to new would make the most sense. However, for long threads, new to old limits the amount you have to scroll when visiting multiple times. Old to new you have to scroll past all messages already read. Also, pics load top to bottom, so you'll also have to wait for all old pics to load, before the new ones. Let me know what you think either way. If there is overwhelming support to try old to new, then I will. |
