Just got in from LA-la land. Weather was just like Oregon on Friday and Saturday, Sunday on was unfamiliar to me. What was that blue color overhead? It was GREAT to finally meet Matt and James. I think that the dark grey metallic (jeez, I'll NEVER get those stupid Italian names for color down) is now my most favorite color for a 308 GTB/S car. James' Testarossa? Comment not needed. It's a Testarossa, after all. Ferrari sightings: A little disappointing. Granted, it was raining the first two days, but not the following three days. I saw just two Ferraris (I'm not counting Matt's, James', and the museum cars, just road sightings.) Both were on La Brea (sp?), almost at the same location, but two days apart. Red 355GTB, dark (Grey?, it was night) 360 coupe. Heard the 360 before I saw it. Cruised Wilshire, Rodeo, Sunset, Hollywood, etc. a bunch. That was it. Petersen's: This is a great 'General Public' museum. You know what I mean. You go there for the cars, but they have enough 'diorama'-type displays to keep the great unwashed happy. Good diversity. Movie star cars to interest the public, serious hardware for those of us with grease under our fingernails. I spotted a display of 'Cannonball' books (Brock Yates) in the gift shop. I mentioned to Matt that I had heard this was an interesting read. Picked one up to buy. Matt pointed at a sign and said "There is a book signing in 1/2 hour". Geez. How lucky can you get? We went to McDonalds - the Ferrari in the parking lot was a nice touch for Wilshire Blvd. Went back and attended the talk, Q&A session, and book signing. Hal Needham, the world's worst movie director ('Smokey and the Bandit', 'Cannonball Run', and others) signed my book also. Yates wife was there - she was the passenger in the ambulance Yates drove in the last Cannonball run. Got her signature too. Look for a separate subject on the Marconi |

Gene, That was My 308. James had his testarossa next to mine until about 12:00 so we must have all passed each other. I think next time we do this I will post my cell number. I guess no one red that I would be wearing a red hawaiian shirt. Oh well. Things to know for next time. It was fun to hang out with Hans and Jim. M |

I showed up with my 2 sons close to 12:00. I saw the Grigio Titanico 308 parked on the 2nd floor then moved to the 1st floor parking. I wasn't able to meet with anyone but enjoyed the museum with my family. Went to Farmer's Market 3rd and Fairfax afterwards for some grub... absolutely great place with lots of selections from Crepes and pastries to Kebabs and Gyros... hmmmm i'm salavating again... |

I think it's really funny that we were all there and couldn't get it together. I kept thinking someone would see us (two guys with a 5 year old) and say something. Hans, did you buy (or look at) a 1/18 scale Ferrari (vintage) in the gift shop? I saw someone that resembled you standing in the shop with one in his hand. That's so funny. The museum's not that big. Next time I'll give out my cell #. |

yes that was me! We should organize a ferrarichat meet. I am on the roadfly.com M3 boards and we have meets every few months. They are great opportunities to meet fellow board members and see their cars. Maybe we should start a post and see how many members would be interested in this. |

shahin, I am fine with that but I think unless we schedule it far out in advance, such as 6 months, it would be hard. I think I saw you and your friend walking around. You can come over anytine you want and we can start to get something going. We should have it in Orange County or southern LA county. That should draw more f-chatters and f-cars. Was that your BMW I snaped a pic of?

I was there - met with Hans and Matt. We stood around looking for others, went for coffee down the street, left a note with the cashier, but didn't see anyone. Nice drive up, however, as the rain moved east and the skies were clear. |

Apologies to all. I just got home from the Petersen Museum. We arrived a little early and my boss' kid was too antsy so we went ahead and toured the exhibits. I kept my eyes open for you guys, but didn't see anything that looked like a group of more than two. Perhaps I wasn't the only one missing from the group. Sorry I missed meeting you all. |

Hans, I have been planing to visit the Marconi Museum for some time, but have yet to actually do it. Unfortunately, I can not go on Monday. I am off Thursday (today), Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, however, so if there's something you would like to do on those days, let me know. |

I know some of you actually have somewhere that you have to be weekdays, but if you're free, I'll be going to the Marconi museum Monday, 12:30-ish. Call me at the hotel if you want to go. Since it's by reservation, we might have to notify them if more are going. Also, I'm still looking for a date Friday night or Saturday afternoon. From this very moment forward, I'll be email-less, so call the Millenium Biltmore, ask for Jean Kurtz. She reserved it, I just get to stay there. Have to carry her bags, tho. |

BTW, although a bunch of us are going to Petersen's on Sunday, I'm still very free Saturday. Lunch anyone? I'll be at [email protected] until noonish Thursday, after that, call the Millenium Biltmore, and ask for Jean Kurtz. She'll scream, security will check you over, and then I'll pick up the phone. But don't let that deter you. Hope to see some of you there. |

Post-Cartum depression: I'm preparing to leave for LA (-la land) tomorrow. Drove the F-car for tha last time for the near foreseeable future today. Kissed it goodnight. Hope it doesn't miss me. It tends to wet on the floor if I don't pay attention to it. We've seen therapists, etc., but, well, that's another story. Left the Ferrari Bear in the back seat. Hopefully, that will keep it company until I get back. Maybe I can bring it a key ring or something. Looking forward to Matt, et al for the Petersen Museum Sunday. Seems we might have a good crowd. I wasn't going to bring my clunky 35mm camera, but with the potential F-car involvement, it will be a necessary accessory. See you all (Y'all?) there. |

(Image of guy modestly stubbing toe into ground) Gosh, guys. I'm a little overwhelmed. Matt: Good to speak to you. BTW, I forgot to mention the 'car inspection'. These damn 'GT4s all seem to be different, and I'm always curious to see how your car's hoses are routed, etc. No firewall/1 piece firewall/3 piece firewall?? Horizontal 'Dino' indentation in nose? I'll bring some wrenches, and we'll take it apart in the parking lot. James: If you can't join us Sunday, perhaps we can 'do lunch' Saturday? Your people can contact my people. Which is pretty much me. I'll be at this email until Thurs morn, after that call the Biltmore and ask for Jean Kurtz. Email me offline before Thurs and I'll get you phone #s, both here and cell. Hubert: I'll have to check into the Marconi. Transportation could be a bit of an issue, but not insurmountable. Thanks all, Hans. |

Hans - the 23 window VW bus is a recent acquisition. I use it to haul dirty Ferrari parts around. My high school son will use it around town. I need to dress appropriately when driving it - head band, bell bottoms, flower shirt, and other paraphernalia. Oh, and surf has to be up - definitely up. Saturday ?may? be do-able, but unlikely. I have to get one kid to a soccer game somewhere in Los Angeles. If I can get him a ride home, I may be able to join everyone for lunch. More to come. Jim S. |

I was lucky enough to have had a Ferrari there to drive around in and it was just a gret 3 day vacation! e-mail Tino and see if he is in for the museum. He can probably bring some friends and fill up the group.

Shanhin, I can throw a rock and hit COC. Hans, do you need a ride? Friday night, Sat before 1 or anytime Sunday? I'll take pics and post. If Shanhin and David go, then we have 5. Half way there! If we don't get 10, then at least he can make our own self guided tour. Price without 10 is $10 and $6 for parking. Price with 10 is $6, kids under 5 free, parking is still $6. The Peterson is located at 6060 Wilshire Blvd. at Fairfax in Los Angeles. The parking lot is located on Fairfax, south of Wilshire Blvd. Next to MOCA and the La Bbea tar pits. M
