FYI, I called on this car. From the information I received, it was recently bought at auction.

It has had paint-work on the door & quarter-panel. As of the time I called, they didn't have the books or records, although they claimed they were on the way.

I pass.

nope,
plug is in the engine compartment by the transmission. wire coming out of the gearbox. has a clip on it for the removal of the engine at a service. No way you could tell.

Guys this is the reason why I say don't look at Miles, look the the overall condition of the car. If it has issues at 5,000 Miles it is questionable.

I have a 28K Miles 348 Spider here that is near perfect. Has some wear but shows less than most 28K Miles cars. Here is a car that stands out.
On the other hand I have inspected a car for Jim S. at Don L Leasing that was described as a 9 out of 10 with 17K Miles and the car had rock chips that suggested 90,000 Miles. The seat was worn, suggesting that the onwer was sitting in his car daily but never drove it?

Stop looking solely for Miles guys!

Is there any way to inspect the connection to see if it has been unplugged? Where is the plug?

I have a 41K Miles 348 Spider in excellent condition. Just had its 30K done. The owner is a little high at $ 65,000 asking but will come down a little for sure. Black on black. No "Hood"-rims though, sorry!

I would be very skeptical of a car with that little use in 7 years. The 348 speedo is electronic, all the owner would need to do is unplug the wire from the sensor and the car would stop accumulating miles! If it was me I'd be looking for one somewhere around 40 or 50k miles, that would be a much more realistic amount for a car that old. Why not just repaint Franks car?

aghhhhhh, 1000 Miles in 7 years.
if in fact that is true I do not know what i s worse: the fact it was never driven, or the fact that somebody disconnected the speedo and tries to pass this up as a low miles car?

To me this car screams : STAY AWAY!

Frank,
your car is for sale?

Good feedback guys...thanks! So, you think the second one is a $65K (+/-) car based on what you can see?

David, Thanks for the car fax on the first car. Based on the fact that the car only had 1,000 miles put on it in the last 7 years...I'm very sceptical! How is that possible? I mean, I know how that can happen, but why???

Frank, beautiful car, but I am really only looking at black cars at this time. Thanks though.

Neal, how many miles on your 95 when you bought it for 70k?

Thanks -Stu

I have a ts, wish I had bought a spider instead. It is almost impossible to solve the water leaks on a targa top. I agree the tan interior looks better than the black. I also agree with Neal, if you try a little harder I bet you can get one for less.

Here is part of the carfax on the ebay car. Obviously a garage queen that sat in California before being sold at dealer auctions recently. Who knows if the car can run great everyday or if it prefers to sit. Just thought the information might help.

Check out my silver on black 348 Spider in the Ferrari Ad part of this site. IMHO, the 348 Spider looks best in silver. I can e-mail you photos on request.

love the car and since i have same thing i would like to believe still going in the $70's but price not realistic in this market. i paid 70 with seller paying tax last year. my car was also perfect with recent svc and even nicer tan interior. i would hope to get 65 for it today but thats probably too high. car is amazing at any price though so if you have heart set you wont be disappointed but i bet further researce will save you 10k$
good luck

i agree with roel but the wheels aren't chromed, they're the original aluminum polished to shine like that. i knew a guy who had one and it was pure pimp-mobile

No way the chrome wheel are great. Matter of fact I'm thinking of getting my rims chromed also. I think it enhances the look of the car.

Make sure you get the car inspected a person I know in Minneapolis flew himself and a mechanic down to look at a 328 this dealership had for sale with 26000 orginal miles. The thing had a maintanence log so think it filled two folder, seems the customer had two 30k services performed as well as went through 4 clutches. The numbers didnt add up and my friend walked, not saying this is a bad car just be careful and get all documentation. The price is great!
