Looks too much like a kit car.

That a Koenig Competition Evolution, isn't it? It's not build on a F40, but the Testarossa.. Don't know, but it looks like the Evolution

That looks like the Testarossa Koenig widebody kit. William has parts of one that is going on his race car.

Note - rear quarter window size/shape.

Brian-I would have to agree with everyone else that the end result probably wouldn't be very satisfying, however I believe Italian Design & Racing (www.italianauto.com) used to have an F40 type clone on his webpage. It's no longer there, but he may still have the molds or know who does.

These are two pages from a Koenig 1/89 catalogue. I have to admit, that I was a bit overly optimistic calling it a F40 replica. The styling cues are obvious (and Forza magazine would certainly call it a design theft according to their last issue, where they trace any car ever made back to a Ferrari...), but I agree it doesn't look as much F40ish to be a replica. The performance numbers however were clearly targeting the F40 at the time. Same goes for the Marketing slogan calling it the 'fastest car on the street'.

I've seen the Koenig car, and I have to agree that it has some F40 design cues, but isn't an F40 copy. The sides and rear 1/4's are quite different.

I know what you're talking about. The wing and clear engine lid on the Koenig are F40 styling cues. Still doesn't look like a F40 though. :-)

Not to be argumentative here, but aside from the different number of cylinders the cars look pretty much alike. Just my opinion of course. Also very similar technologies with twin turbos and intercoolers.

I have some pictures at home that I could scan and people can decide for themselves. You're right it was not to be an official 'replica', but the similarities are more than just the wing.

I don't think the Koenig testarossa was ever built to be a "F40 replica". It's got a high rear wing similar to a F40's but that's where the similarities end.

I can't imagine, that the results would be anywhere near satisfying. Building it based on a TR basis however might make sense. I wonder whether a conversion kit for that is around?

When the F40 came out and was going for about $ 1 mio Koenig Germany built 'replicas' based on TR. Those looked really sharp and were even faster than the F40. And you had the car for what you'd pay today about for a real one ;-)

I saw the "F40" thread and it got me wondering, has anyone ever built an F40 clone using a 308/328 GTB chassis?
