"A superperformance or FF or any good cobra replica would show it a thing or two about performance."

In what sense? 1/4 mile? Sure. Road course? I don't know. Apples-to-apples is difficult but a stock engined Factory Five Spec Cobra has about the same power to weight ratio as a C5 Corvette and a T1-prepared Corvette gets around Summit Point a full 3 seconds faster. A Z06 seems to be another second faster ("seems to be" because I have no idea of the qualifications of the drivers - I'm just looking at a results page from a NEDiv National this spring and a NASA race a few weeks ago).

I love the things to death but most of them are about as sophisticated as a rock. In fact, that's probably *why* I like them so much. :-)

Racer, without a doubt there are more 360's on the road. I dont think it could putperform all american cars. A superperformance or FF or any good cobra replica would show it a thing or two about performance. Now for comfort and driveability thats a different story. The C12 is heavy, weighing in at 3200+lbs. The saleen has to be less than that. The mosler MT900 photon (or whatever he calls the highest performing model) is also a force to be reckoned with.

Callaway cars are truly special. There are probably more 360's out there than C12s.

I'd like to see them do a car like this with some major power. For under $100k you could get a 7.0L Twin Tubro package from Lingenfelter. MTI also has a 427... but I don't think it can be blown due to compression or something. Horsepower isn't everything, but for $80k a new SRT-10 Viper puts out more than this 1/4 million dollar car... With that said... the C12 is probably faster than all of the American exotics on the track, save maybe the Saleen S7...

I can remember there was a Callaway vette from the early 90's that looked even more like a 360 than this new C12 model.

You used to hear a lot about Callaway vettes back in those days, but then he seemed to just disapear towards the late 90's.

I guess Lingenfelter gets all the media coverage these days.

Quote from the article: "Enter the C12. Based on the C5 Corvette, Callaways flagship aims to achieve all that the company holds sacrosanct."

But Tim is right, it was released before the 360. Saw it in a dealership in Manhattan, didn't really know what it was at first. BTW, those are Dodge Avenger tail light I think. Anyway, grossly overpriced.

I'm pretty sure this car came out before the 360. It also isnt really a vette. Its built from the ground up at callaway. There was an article about it in motor trend back in 99 i think.

At $247,150, you could get a 360 spyder.

Look how easy it is to change the front hood and back trunk cover on a C5 Corvette to make it look like a 360.
