Yes; Motorcycle helmets are designed for one big bonk followed by a long scraping across the road and into the weeds. Automotive helmets are designed for multiple bonks inside the car, flying debris (thicker shield), and fire protection. |

Yes, M rated helmets don't have to have the fire proofing elements, just impact. Most track events require an SA rated helmet of at least 1995. Autocrosses just require M rated helmets. |

is there a difference with motorcycle helmets and auto racing helmets? i'm going to willow and i already have a moto helmet, do i still need an auto racing helmet?
