So again what are the differences between the Euro Enzo and the USA model? VIN? ;) Yes I had to ask albeit only somewhat jokingly. -Ben |

I see, I wasn't sure about the fuel rating differences. I'm sure it runs well, Ferrari's producing it, it costs a hell of a lot of money, and hence their reputation is being put on the line with it. I could just see them pulling something like that where it's 660hp under their conditions, not real conditions. As far as comp, it's getting up there on an engine that big from a manufacturer. The 5.7L LS6 runs 10.5:1 if I remember correctly, the Enzo's bigger than that and running a noticeably higher rate. You could run nearly any height of compression, it would just limit your ability to advance timing drastically. I'm sure (or at least I hope with blind faith) they know what they're doing though. Looking at the specs, that thing is really gonna be a rocketship. Maybe my liking the F50 over it should change... |

Bret- European ratings are RON; slightly different that US ratings which are comprised of (R+M)/2, and are collectivly called the 'antiknock' index; 95 RON would equate to ~ 91 octane, and considering the ENZO's compression ratio isn't atmospheric, a daper 11.2:1, it should run on US 91 octane, best you can get here in CA, fine; although I wouldn't be suprised if the US enzo's have slightly different ECU mapping to back off timing, slightly. |

I find it interesting they say it needs 95 octane gas, because I mean they sell that everywhere... They say RON though so I'm not sure if that is what we use in the U.S., so I could be wrong with that first statement. The highest here is Sunoco 94, everywhere else has 93 as the highest. Seems like the knock sensors will come in awful handy... Even with the pented roof which supposedly allows slightly higher comps to be run, 11.2 is pretty damn high, especially for a 6 liter engine. I'm concerned with running btw 10.8-11:1 on a 3.0L w/o an adjustable timing system I would be really worried. |
