Pioneer in-dash DEH-P9400 CD/MP3 (one disc, 150 songs), Infinity 5.25" kappa speakers in the door, and an amplified 8" subwoofer in the passenger footwell. As mentioned, the perforated door covers reduce high frequencies, but overall sounds good. My goal was decent sound without altering the car's interior. Like Mark, I installed dynamat behind the door panels to reduce road noise when the top is on. I have pix of the installation is anyone is interested. |

I've got a 308 QV. I drive it quite a bit and not hearing the radio over the engine noise got a little old. I pulled the carpet and put dynamat extreme and acoustic foam down. New CD player, a pair of rockford 160 amps (280watts actual output each) driving an 8 inch sub in the passenger foot box and 5.25 blauapunk component speakers with the tweeters mounted on the dash. I guess wont be winning a concourse any time soon |

I had the sound system upgraded in my 308/QV for those long trips when the music of the engine isn't just enough, or when you want some music while you're working on the car or if you've taken the car out with the wife and are having a picnic. I have a Pioneer MP3/CD/AM/FM unit in the dash, had the perforated leather covers in the door panels (they really muffle the speaker sound) replaced with dyed-to-match grill cloth, put in the best (at the time) speakers I could find that in the stock panels (I used Focals), took out the amplifier that was in the kick panel and had a subwoofer put in there in a custom Z-Box molded enclosure, and then had a custom "disk" made that fits in the spare tire well that has a separate (new) amplifier and equalizer on it... it just lifts out when you need to get to the spare tire or battery. Also, because it's "loose", it's never caused me to lose points in concours. It's GREAT sounding, especially with the subwoofer; other F-car 308//328 owners are always pleasantly surprised. Pictures of the "disk" are below. If you want to see how the door panels look with the cloth speaker grills, you can see them at www.tradetutor.com/photos/interior/

A friend of mine put an Apline, with the screen which goes back into the dash into his 355. Also got the GPS option with it. Radio sounds great, screen slides back into the radio slot, can't see it, and the GPS gives you directions out loud while driving. Great idea, but at 5k, too expensive. In my old 348 Spyder, I took out the radio, amp, cd changers, etc., because the changer was in the trunk, and didn't have any room for anything else in the trunk. Art Art |

When I purchased my 328, it already had a stereo installed. I kind of chuckled because it's a Nakamichi cassette deck. I'm sure it was installed in the 80's, at which time it was probably a pretty decent piece of equipment. I seriously considered replacing it with a CD player, but like most others, I find myself turning off radio soon after I turn it on. When the top is off, it's hard to hear anyway, so I decided to stand pat. They did do a nice job with that 355 though. |

Ryan, I saw that Shaq had a bunch of his cars on there. Sad thing is I have no ferrari to give them so don't worry about the big subs. Actually I would love to hear a ferrari engine in person over any stereo but there are only a few around here and I see them maybe once every few months driving by. I wasn't big on the ferrari they did either but I am sure thay are capable of some great things. |

West Coast Customs do great work. That is where Shaq Daddy gets all his machines customized at. Check out the Gallery of his cars (If they still have it, pretty unbelievable..) Frankly, it's your car and don't let the chatters opinions sway your decision. Personally, i'm not too hot with that 355 conversion... After a long day, a little Jazz is hard to beat IMO. RK PS. Try to stay away from the big subwoofers..... |

Well I guess as long as I am flamed politely no big deal . I am sure many of the people here whether they admit it or not do listen to music while they drive. I understand the whole idea of the engine "being the music" but I also figure that some people have gone against this and put one in there car. I know they sound great without one but I would love to drive around in one with some good songs playing also. There is another post asking what everyones favorite driving song was so I think they are out there...but then again nobody has posted anything lol. Thanks anyways. Matt |

In another thread under the heading of 456, I was politely "told off" for thinking of improving the stereo system instead of just concentrating on the engine sounds. No hard feelings, but wish you better luck, my friend. This is your thread. |

I am sure most of you are simply happy with the sound of your engines but I am sure several have upgraded there sound systems. I was wondering what you all have and if you have any pictures. I have found a few done by a company in California called West Coat Customs. This is a 355 Spider they did. Looks like they do real good work.
