Here's some info on a few other tours -- but these have you behind the wheel of a Ferrari: http://www.europeanferrarirental.com/tourlocations.htm |

I was at the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello in 1998 when I noticed someone was giving a guided tour so I tagged along and listened to his descriptions of the exhibits etc. It was really good and very enjoyable. It was only towards the end of the tour that I realised it was Phil Hill! Not a mistake I'd make these days I assure you!! If you get the chance I'd recommend it as he does make a good tour guide! Even better for me as I didn't pay! |

If you own a Ferrari you can arrange a factory tour for free at you local dealer. The best package deal IMHO is the one offered by www.grandprixtours.com during the week before Monza. It is hosted by Phil Hill and includes tours of the Ferrari factory as well as most of the other Italian maques. |

Try the Car Guy tours. Frank Mandarano has been doing these tours for several years. http://www.concorso.com/CAR_GUY/carguy.asp |

I got the same flyer. The photos basically promise tons of Maranello/Ferrari stuff, but the text itinerary mentions no Ferrari related tours. Puzzling. Smithsonian doing a scam??? |

From the web site MAY 24: Maranello and Bologna Travel to Maranello, home to the prancing horse - Ferrari. Take a guided tour of Galleria Ferrari. Continue to Modena to see the Mille Miglia rally vehicles snaking their way through the old city streets. Meet drivers and enjoy the spectacle of sports cars at their finest. (B,L,D) Doesn't say anything about factory tour, I guess they are going to peek through the fence like I did to see the track. |

Today I recieved a brochure in the mail from The Smithsonian Associates advertising an Italian Automobile Design & History Tour May 17-26, 2003. According to the brochure, the seminar leader will be Winston Goodfellow and some of the highlights include: *private tour of the Ferrari factory in Maranello *private tour of the Lamborghini factory in Sant' Agata Bolognese *Ferrari's Fiorano test track *Mille Miglia rally in Modena *Lancia museum in Milan *Alfa Romeo factory museum in Arese *Monza racetrack *etc. I can't justify the $4,500+ price tag to my wife (still trying to pay my car off), however I thought I would throw this on the board in case some of you had more understanding wives. The number they list is 1-877-338-8687 or their web site is smithsonianstudytours.org. Disclaimer-This is the first mailing I have recieved from The Smithsonian Associates and I don't know anything about them so make sure you check them out prior to making any commitments. |
