Copy of my post a few months back:

I had the same thing happen to my 95 F355 (Challenge). This has happened to many 355's especially ones that see track time. Before you install the Tubi check with your Ferrari dealer and FNA. Many folks were getting their headers replaced free of charge because FNA didn't want dealers trying to weld them (mine were welded at least four times).

If you bought your 355 through an authorized dealer and have been getting it serviced there FNA might replace them. From what Ferrari of Washington told me last winter, it's a case by case basis and a lot of factors come into play such as where the car was bought, where it was serviced most of the time, and other issues such as it being street legal and a US car.

FNA knows the history of my car (last 355 in the US converted to a Challenge car) and refused to replace the headers because it's a Challenge car. From what FOW told me the headers are technically an emmissions part and therefore FNA was replacing them for up to 7 years from the original date of purchase.

There is no "official" recall or service bulletin but in some cases they replaced them.

In this post, ben posted a pic of the changes. This is the eaiset way to tell what headers you have. Hope this helps

I had the Headers replaced on my 95 355 B by Ferrari of OC about a couple of months ago. This is a common problem with these cars. Also some cars have had Valve Guide Problems. The dealers have been very good about the Exhaust Manifold problem.

Oh, btw, if there IS a header problem on these babies, anybody know of a cutoff date/serial were Ferrari might have fixed the problem in the production process ?

I had a part replaced on my 94 348 under emissions warranty. At the time the warranty was good for 5 yrs/ 50K whichever came first. May be longer now. I got it done just in time.

Earlier this summer, I had both headers replaced on a 95 F355B at FoH under warentee. I don't know if it was the federal warentee, or the 1 year used car FNA warentee, but warenteed nonetheless.

I'm not sure either as to exact length of time but I know it's different for diff parts of the exhaust system.I believe the longest warranty is for the catalytic converters.

your books include a Warranty Booklet. it's short - one of the 5x8 books (not the tiny 4x5 ones), but not very thick at all.

in it it details the warranty coverages. that said, you still might not be able to figure it out :-)

my understanding is that the federal warranty requirements are in two pieces. some stuff is on a 2/24K and other stuff is on 8/80K. which stuff is in which is not clear.

i haven't found any mention of a seven year warranty on anything, but it's possible i just missed it. as for five years, the only thing i've found is that similar emissions requirements are in place for heavy duty vehicles (big trucks) - and those are five years.

read your books. if all else fails, try FNA.

and keep us posted, as many 355 owners are curious here on this topic!

Oh, yeah, the car was originally sold in Florida or New York, I forgot which, and is now registered in California if that makes a difference.

I've read several posts here about the federal emissions warranty covering cracked headers on 355's for 7yrs. I've also read some threads that state that it is 5 yrs. Which is it? My 95 355 spider has cracked headers and just falls below 7 yrs if it is from the date of original purchase. Does anyone have the details regarding this? Thanks.
