Yep, they are the sort of gimmick that some will fall for, those who simply must have something if its even remotely associated with F. Snap-On are better quality. Sink the money into Snap On and if you really must, buy a couple of F stickers |

And now, some reality. If you look at the "limited edition" serial number tag, it sure looks like it is merely slid down into a slot like a card. Not even riveted on like a quality Klein, Mac, Matco, Snap-On, tool box, etc. So the fancy serial number tag could be pulled out and lost within 5 minutes. Also, it looks like the top of the box and part of the drawers are made of molded plastic. Not exactly a quality tool box. As for the large Ferrari logos; I'll bet they are just stick-on. I saw a Harley Davidson "limited edition" tool box at Sears and the logos were just stick on. Pull them off in 5 minutes and it's just a tool box. And most importantly of all, I would NOT bet my money that those tools AREN'T made in Taiwan. It seems that these days, if a tool company does not SPECIFICALLY say where their tools are made, then they are probably made in Taiwan or even worse, China. Buyer beware.

I have had the opportunity to use FACOM tools. I have to say that I am not the biggest fan of them. I did not spend that much time with them, but I feel that Snap On tools are much better to work with. The FACOM tools which I used did not feel all that solid, and were a little bulky...especially the ratchet. And for $2,950.00 you can do MUCH better with Snap On (which are expensive tools).

My wife sold 2 of these to a guy in Scotland last year. He certainly seemed pleased with them. Must say I'm not much of a grease monkey myself but I thought they seemed pretty good quality. If I remember right there are tools in the top 4 drawers. I think there are still some available in the UK. I know there is one in a shop in Sheffield, not sure what the price is though. |
