That's a genius idea of using a test drive car to learn. Keeps all the wear and tear on a dealership car.....until someone buys it. |

Fayyaz, don't sweat it- it took me a while to learn, too... As they say, practice makes perfect... There are still some things i need to learn... i remember dating a woman i worked with, years back, at Grand Union; she had a standard transmission Toyota... One night, after work, we went off, and parked in some secluded lot to um, well... Anyway, she knew i wanted to learn how to drive a stick, so she let me, while she stood there, smoking a cigarette... i was flying all around the lot, at 40mph, in 1st gear...! Not once did i move it into second... There she was, this beautiful older woman and i'm cruising around the parking lot- what the hell was i thinking... It cost her $800 to have something clutch-related fixed, a few weeks later... i still think about her, sometimes... |

Wow, Im having the best weekend! I've been begging my dad to take me to drive a manual car for the last few months, and finally, we went to the Mazda dealership (my dad knows one of the sales guys), and he let us take a Miata out, so I go to drive it. This was my first time driving stick, and man, I was awful...my dad didnt want me driving on the roads, so we just went to a parking lot so I could start and stop and try to get the basics down...I must have stalled a good 15 times in around 25 minutes. The accelerator was a little twitchy for my liking, if I just tapped it, it would give too much gas. The car was pretty uncomfortable, and my dad thought that this would cure me of my desire to learn how to drive manual...man was he wrong...the only thing I can think of now is to do it again, and learn how to drive it properly... It was a pretty fun experience, it looks easy, but it wasnt too easy for me...I just wish that we had a manual car so I could get good at it...one day, I will have a manual car (a Ferrari of course). I also drove an automatic Lexus IS300...I really liked it, it really flew... |
