Stephen: it's not your doing, it's server related for sure. Thanks for the upload, though. Dr - let us know about your replacement. It looks quite sharp, IMO. --Dan |

I just tried the file, and although I still get the 'unk' file download, it works fine. I saved the file as Dan suggested in mov. format. Hope you can all hear the file. Let me know if I should try again. |

Ben, Here it the standard composite gear shift knob on Barchetta. Notice there is a cavalino on the top and numeric will appear at the bottom of the reverse slot.

For some reason, downloading it brings it up as a .unk file. To listen, rename it or better yet save as with .mov as the extension, and it'll be fine. Thanks for posting a clip. --Dan |

Good Dr.: 5 large for a shift knob? You can get a momo, aftermarket, c/f piece for 1/5 of that, if not less. |

I can vouch for Norman's exhaust - the sound is *just* right, in my opinion. The tubi felt too boy-racer-loud in a way, almost as if it were screaming instead of wailing. The CarGraphic introduces the right element of basso profundo to the mix, but is reasonably quiet so as not to be overwhelming. Doody - you really have no choice but to come out from cold Boston for a visit... :D --Dan |

I replaced my stock exhaust with the cargraphics because the stock was too quiet. Like Mr Doody says, the 550 with stock exhaust sounds just like any other car on the road. I actually don't care whether others hear my exhaust or not, as long as I do. The new exhaust has really enhanced the overall driving experience for me. I drive with the windows down all the time now. I think this is as close to a Daytona sound as I'll ever get without actually getting a Daytona. I think the Daytona is one of the most awesome sounding cars I have ever heard. |

I have an early 550 with 37,000 miles on it. It may be time to replace the original exhaust system. I have never heard my car from the outside. Since I am not a sixteen year old, I do not need to tell the world my car is here. I just love the way my happy car purrrrs through the gears. Never very loud but I always know where my engine is. My question: Are there any better exhaust systems then what was put on my beast at the factory? Better means better performance, not sound. The 550 is the greatest car I have ever even dreamt about.

In fact I like the stock exhaust option on maranello. The car is so damn comfortable and don't want to make it too loud. I am getting a carbon shifter gear shift knob for my 550, just like the standard gear knob on Barchetta. I will take a photo and show you all when it is installed. It runs about $500 |

CarGraphic (a rebadged Fuchs aparently) sounds absolutely stunning, like a Daytona or other V12 ferrari of olde. Not quiet by any means, but not at all boomy or resonant like the 550 Tubis. It's... just... amazing. I heard it on Norm's 550, made me weep. Best! Ben. |

Picked up my 550 today from the shop. The Tubi cans were replaced with stock cans. "Neutered" is not an inappropriate word. The bad news is that it has virtually zero presence at startup now, and at low idle it just sounds like, well, a car idling. When you rev it up, you hear the engine workin' hard. It sounds very pleasant. All the noise now is from the front, whereas before most of the noise was coming from the exhaust and mixing together with the engine - it was tough to hear the engine distinctly at all. The great news is that the resonance is gone. No more Tubi-induced headaches for this little boy. It was the right answer for me right now, but I do have a crisper understanding of why everybody swaps their Maranello exhausts. I do plan to explore the other Tubi options as espoused by Efwun and others, but I'll bet I'm going to stay stock. I'll miss it every time I start her up, but the good news is I spend a LOT more time driving her, so it works out in the end. doody. |
