Ferrari has flatly denied that the replacement will use the 4.2 Maser motor. The other rumor of a 4.0 V10 makes more sense to me because of competition and the need to have more displacement, yet an oversquare bore/stroke ratio to keep redline high. If I had a vote, bring on the V10! DAve |

I am puzzled as to the comments regarding the styling of the present 360. This car is completely sold out through it model run and people are writing that there is a problem with styling? I understand the need for hp relative to the competition but to my knowledge very few have been critical of its looks. Let me state it another way;if you were the CEO of Ferrari would you dramatically change the look of the 360? Utter nonsense!

Here's a blurb: October 24th 2002: FERRARI 420 MODENA Ferrari are planning a much more radical facelift of the 360 Modena, which is expected to be released late next year. Concern about dropping behind its rivals, which include the shortly to be released "baby" Lamborghini L140, as well as the lukewarm reception that the facelifted 575M has received since its launch earlier this year, has pushed Ferrari into greater changes than originally envisioned. The new car will be fitted with Ferrari's new 4.2-litre V8 engine which is already fitted to the new Maserati Coupe and Spyder. However to keep Ferrari above Maserati, the 184kg engine is expected to be tuned to produce around 465bhp, 75bhp more than in the Maserati. Styling will be overhauled, the 360 Modena has come in for criticism for its bland looks and a much more distinctive styling is expected, possibly drawing cues from the new Enzo supercar. It is believed that the new car will be known as the "420 Modena", and is scheduled to make its debut in September next year, several months after its Lamborghini rival.

Yes, Wayne, I thought Modena Modificata was the original designation of this rumored vehicle? When I spoke with Werner at Miller, we termed it Modena M. Has info concerning the car come out? (other than the 4.2 and perhaps 470hp?) |

EFWUN, possible you're thinking of the 420 Modena, the 360's upcoming replacement? |

Matt, I've heard from Tubi that the car exists, no official word from Ferrari. Supposed to be 4.2 liters, a little more aggressive styling than the 360. I'm on the "waiting" list at Miller; who knows? |

David Janes, Jr. There is NO M version of the 360. It is called the Challange stradale. Here are the threads. I made it simple so you can click on them. http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/224042.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/192662.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/195585.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/210662.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/192982.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/178518.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/180742.html IF that is not enought, get a book |

Dear "the Don", I did a couple searches, it appears that there is no new news except for the excitement caused by an Italian car developement web site now almost a year old. I realize that my question does not cover the intricacies of your Magnum PI collector posters so it may seem a bit of a rehash to you, but for those of us interested in the next hot Post Vietnam era F-car, any real news on the Modena Big motor is of more than of passing interest. I did like your picture of Buckweat however. |
