Art, I have a book called "Dino, the Little Ferrari" by Doug Nye that is a year by year history of the cars from 1957. There is some road cars stuff at the end but mostly it is the racing cars (formula and sports racers) of the late 50s to mid 60s. 300+ pages. In the back it has race by race results and specs of the various cars. Plenty of pictures and diagrams too of course. I'd be happy to mail it to you if you'd like. Drop me an email if you're interested.

(in case the spam bots are cruising this site I'll say that my email address is rich at 3jar.com - just assemble as usual).

Guys:

Thanks for the help. If you don't mind, I'll use the board to edit and suggestions as the piece gets written. I'll have a first draft in about a month or so (I'll post it and you'll be able to see just how lousy a writer I am), you've given me a lot of reading.

Art,

In the video series "Ferrari, the first 50 years," there is one whole video on the Sports Racers and it is very good. It is available through White Star/Duke Video on either VHS (4 tapes $59.95) or DVD/ $29.95, I believe.

I have the VHS set and the information is quite good. It begins by taking a ride in a 333SP with in-car camera. I believe it is Derek Daly doing the driving.

2 books i would recommend are:
Ferrari Fifty Years on the Track
by John Starkey, Christopher Renwick & Philippe Olczyk
Upload
has excellent historical race coverage and a WONDERFUL appendix with a short paragraph on each s/n "Chassis histories" as the index calls it.

And one i just picked up
Ferrari 330/P4 by Paolo Marasca
Upload
excellent race by race coverage of the cars... although being ever the visualist i would have preferred a better colour salon of their feature car... a bit expensive but well presented...

All the best with your project...

A French Kiss With Death
Ferrari- Fitzgerald and Merritt
The Speed Merchants.

The older "sports racers, such as the Dino 206, the P3, P4 "sports racers". What I thought I might do, is to do a chronology of the evolution of these cars, ending up with the 512 CanAm car. I'll take any suggestions on this.

Hi Art,

Define "Sports Racers" are these people driving "Challenge cars", people who do track days, pro level drivers, or is it something else?

I've got to write an article about the Ferrari Sports Racers for next years National event in Monterey. Does anyone have ideas, and or information about them that I can use?

Thanks,

Art
