In the film he says "1961". Interestingly, he does not say "has a market value of $265,000" and "It is his joy". What a great movie! Patrick |

Haha! Love that clip. By the way, in answer to L. Wayne Ausbrooks (Lwausbrooks), the information I posted below was from the original July 24, 1985 SHOOTING SCRIPT. Apparently, revisions were made from the erroneous information it contained. Eggman. |

How about later on as he's descibing it to the audience,... i believe hes in the Mens Room of that fancy Chicago Restaurant he conned his way into as Abe Froman the Sausage King of Chicago... "and i love driving it.. it is sooo choice... if you have the means i highly recommend picking one up..." very funny movie...

Eggman, are you transcribing from the original script? I believe that in the actual film the year is given as "1961," the "GTS" is actually "GT," and the market value line is completely deleted. This movie has been discussed here many times. Do a search for "Ferris." To answer your question, the car used in the film is a fake (much detailed info on it has been discussed here before) but the five quick insert shots of the fender vent, grille, etc are of the real thing. |

Check the "Model List" above Chris. $1 mil+ FoD had one in a few weeks ago, a real one! One in FB wasn't real, don't even know if it was suppsed to be a LWB or SWB. |

All - Thought you would enjoy reading this. Have a great day! ************* The door opens slowly, dramatically as we hear a heraldic fanfare. Light streams in to reveal Cameron and Ferris looking at the car. Ferris is smiling with excitement and awe. Cameron is frowning with trepidation and fear. Close-Up: FERRARI STALLION The prancing black stallion. We move up from the stallion to the erotic red hood of a 1958 Ferrari 250 GTS California. CAMERON AND FERRIS Cameron's face is ashen. The end of the world is at hand. Ferris is in heaven. CAMERON (grim monotone) 1958 Ferrari 250 GTS California. Less than a hundred were made. It has a market value of $265,000. My father spent three years restoring it. It is joy, it is his love, it is his passion. FERRIS It is his fault he didn't lock the garage. CAMERON Ferris, my father loves this car more than life itself. We can't take it out. FERRIS A man with priorities so far out of whack doesn't deserve such a fine automobile. CAMERON He never drives it, Ferris. He just rubs it with a diaper. ************ A few side comments: Was the F-car portrayed in the move an actual '58? What is the market value of one today? Eggman |
