So you can't just go and show up? |

YOu need to arrange the visit through your local authorized dealer. They will contact FNA (if your in North America), and FNA sets it up. You give them some dates and they will let you know which one is available. The tours are done in English and Italian. Hope this helps. |

Martin, No, didnt get a chance to go to the factory, but drove by on our way to Calabria. Can owners get a tour? How does this work? Do you have to schedule in advance? |

I picked up parts for my 348 (1991) in Germany from the Ferrari dealer and they were significantly cheaper. I saved about 40-50% vs the cost in the US. They were available within one day (but I have to admit the Ferrari Germany distribution center is just a few miles away). For all the parts I need for the 30K service I must have saved about $2000. Thanks to Nick I also got a waterpump relatively cheap. I do not know on older parts though. My car is 10 years but the 348 was build until 7 years ago, so they may carry this line until then. Did you go to the Factory? My trip is planned for May 2002. I have send my parents there this week to make a tour and announce our arrival in May. |

I hate to post this, but for everyone (including yours truly) thinking that its easier and cheaper to buy older Ferrai parts in Italy, think again. I went to a dealer in Milan on Monday, and found out that the factory does not carry parts that are more than ten years old. Those parts are now supplied by the original sub to Ferrari. Every dealer in Italy (and Europe for that matter), has to order the parts from England! With the exchange rate factored in, its really not worth it. Most parts are easier to get in the states, because more Ferraris were sold here. Also, the dealer I went to doesnt even stock most of his inventory; he orders what he needs. He receives a shipment every Thursday. I have to go now, but Ill give you some price comparisons in a later posting. |
