Dr. Ken, You are so very right. Bottom line, they are Ferraris, so what is there not to like? Drive on.... :-) |

Long long time ago a Ferrari mechanic said to me: "They finally fixed the 328 with the 348". Go figure. And who cares about prices?! Eventually they'll all go down. Just have fun and enjoy your car today. Ok ok, tomorrow, as today is almost over |

David C., you are right, the prices are getting closer, but I believe that 348 spider prices will start the inevitable slide to keep distance from the 355. Time will tell.... Unfortunately, I don't beleive 348's were ever "well sorted" at any point. At least the few that I have seen with more than 30k miles on them, have been quite problematic. These are 93/94 year cars no less, with repeated alternator problems, engine seal leaks, and ecu problems. I overheard someone asking a Ferrari Mechanic which year/version they fixed the 348, and he said "with the 355...." Before 348 owners start flaming me, I realize that there are many trouble free 348's out there, but I have seen plenty with the same recuring problems. I still love the car, and think it is a performance bargain for the money (in TS or TB form), but I don't think it is the car for me... |

David H. or others - Do the comparison - a 94/95 348 Spider with 20k versus a 95 355B with 20 K - assume equal condition - Whats the price differences ?? Jon Baer earlier today had a thread with prices in the low 70's and I know quality 348 Spiders are bringing this same amount (Dr.stranglove recent posts on his buy) - I don't think my point is far off. The 348 Spider was well sorted out and now everyone is pointing out the early faults of the 355B, soft valves, etc.. - also, top down versus horsepower. As for depreciation - The 348 series seems to have stabilized while the 355 keeps diving. Maybe I am biased due to my purchase but these recent posts may support this.

I'm actually asking the same question myself. In Toronto, the spiders go for a hefty premium, priced very close to 95 355b's. I am wondering if the Spider will depreciate even more than the 355, since it is afer all still a 348. Love the open top though. |

No, not for cars of similar condition and mileage. |

Will all the threads lately talking about 355 prices falling makes me think. We know the 355 prices will puch down on 348 prices but will a hardtop 355 ever fall below the price of a 348 Spider ??? We know all the performance differences and we know Spiders draw a higher dollar in the same model but will the time come where the same dollar or less will allow you to buy the 355 B/GTS over a 348 Spider ???? |
