1988 328 GTS
......
the engine looks healthy, doesn't it?
There are no service records.
The car shows 89000 Km.
Any car I buy I will take the engine out and make a major service at a Ferrari Specialist, perhaps that is why I do not care about the service book. Or should I?
I want my 328 to be as new as all my other "babies" are.... (14 of them)
Tks very much for your present and future help.
Best regards from Portugal

Well...I sent an e-mail to the seller yesterday.
....................
"About the VIN..... my poor knowledge on ferraris says that the VIN should have a
"J" as the tenth digit.
That "J" designates the year of the model.
Z - country of origin
FF - make and manufacturer
X - 328 USA/Japan
A - 3 point inertia belts for front
20 - 328 GTS
J - left hand drive (it can also be A - B - J - S - depending the origin of
export)
...and then should come another J, which means the car is a 1988
Please check......"
His answer was that the VIN was ok.
Now explain me, if TUV is ok...is because they have checked every numbers.Don't you think so?
Anyway I will go there and see the car.....and check the documents and the car numbers.
I will see three 328 GTS and will choose the best of all.
I have spent a lot of reading these last 6 months.I hope I don´t make a mistake

Cause if I remember correctly mine (USA 85 qv) starts out with ZFFUA something something something. I can't check it though cause my car is like 3 hours away from me now. I know the new ones have a B for euro and an A in them for US, not sure if they used the same system back in the day though.

But then the P woudl be the year and that should be J.

Elvio, check that VIN again!

I thought euro vins had the b instead of the a in the 5th spot, or is that only the more recent years?

That is a euro VIN.
Most guys here are in the US. I tried to run a carfax report to see if there is anything coming up but nothing. Showes as a wrong VIN. That again is due to the VIN itself as this is not a US Vin, all we can check is US. Sorry.

Make sure that the car was not driven in the snow and has no rust. Austria is not the easiest climate. Garage kept and if so heated?

Make sure you get a history on the car.
