The 348 kit is for the Toyota MR2. I had a friend who had a 355 kit with a 3.8 supercharged V6. Not bad but still not real. He finally realized his error and sold it. They are also putting Northstar V8's in Fieros (I had one but not in a kit car, just a regular looking GT)

Modman - I didnt think 348 kit cars existed either until I saw one a few weeks back on Ebay...white one if I remember. Looked damn real even had mounted the Ferrari nose and rear, from the side you could tell it was a kit car because of how short the doors were. The new 355 kits are nuts they even have engine parts that make the Fiero engine bay look like you have a Ferrari V-8 in it! I think there is one on Ebay for sale now

I've seen kit cars of various Ferrari's but yet to see a 348 duplicated, has anyone seen one yet? I haven't seen a Ferrari kit car that came close to looking real except for the Testarossa one I've seen a few years ago and it was a convertible true to scale, couldn't tell the difference except for the interior. Because of these kit cars I get a few chumps off the street saying "is that a kit car" or "it's a fake" little do these people know the difference and that is why there are kit cars available, pretty sad.... you have to be an enthusiast to know the difference...

Ive seen some kits on ebay and they offer for example a 400 olds engine or something....thats what I find distasteful..one thing that would work is that I saw a testarossa engine one time on ebay for like 5 grand, if you could get a testarossa replica and insert the engine..you might have something there..a very good replica.. :-)

Andrew, you're right and that is the point. Many don't know and settle for a kit. But kit car drivers are just as passionate if not more so than drivers of the "real" car.

J grande if someone wants a ferrari they should have to work for it..as everyone here has..in life there are no frebies..and if a fake-ferrari kit owner doesnt wanna work to buy the real thing..then he's settleing for less then his dream..

my 2 cents

Rob would answer, but once he saw your post he decide to move out of his house in the middle of the night. I don't expect him to give us his forwarding address. (-:

Andrew, I'm not sure what that means. All kit car owners have a passion for the real mark, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Cobra, whatever. We don't want to come across as A$$holes do we? Like I said, if they knew that they could afford the real car, most of them would, and they would be hard core Ferrari enthusiasts (which they already are). Problem is that many feel they could never afford the real car and so they feel they must make a replica or buy a replica. Education is the most important thing. Show them that with hard work and patience they can restore a 308 or a Dino GT4 for the same price as the kit. I am grateful that someone took the time to educate me in the particulars of Ferrari ownership, even though I've been a tifoso for as long as I can remember. Now a life long dream came true, I own a Ferrari. Don't look down, it's not nice. :-)

these fake ferrari makers dont know the first thing about what owning a ferrari is...One of us should buy it and in front of the owner..have someone come to take it to the junkyard to be crushed..that would be cool

Yes! Exactly! They have no idea that the $50,000 they spent on this kit could get them a REAL 328!

You know what, I don't mind replicas. These guys are just misguided. If they took all that energy and put it into saving some of the mistreated "real" Ferraris they would come out ahead. Most of these guys love Ferrari as much or more than we do. Problem is, they don't realize that a real Ferrari can be had for about the same price as a well made kit. Just my .02 Canadian cents.

I propose we all chip in and buy it and have a annual FerrariChat get-together and burn the sucker on a big bonfire!

How about it? Rob, your house?

He definitely means it doesn't burn oil, interesting though. You would think if you were selling something you would pay attention to what you write, spell, etc. I also find it interesting when they're selling a $300k car and they mispell a name or incorrectly state something about the specs, doesn't exactly enstill buyer confidence.

They DO sue people... some people just don't get it. These people are PURE posers. All they care about is having people THINK they own a Ferrari / Diablo / what have you.

As per the description this car magically doesn't use oil. Considering the lack of drag and assorted other frictions involved with using an oil like lubricant, this thing must be ridiculously fast.
