Paul, That is a car worthy of taking to a dyno and see what kind of hp it is putting out. Cost? About $100. Go do it, and let us know what you have there...inquiring minds want to know. :-) |

Interesting yes David, but mine has the euro single distributor, anza exhaust, no smog, 10.8:1 pistons, ported heads and rejetted carbs. The cams are stock however. It still wanted to go but I was concerned about a total catastrophic explosion if i held it at 8k for more than a minute or so. Thanks for the info. |

Interesting, but I don't think a US spec 78-79 308 will do more than an actual 140-145 mph according to period magazines. |

Don't know the revs per mile of the TRX tires, so I looked up the R&T test of a 308GTS. MPH per 1000 RPM in 5th gear 20.7 x 8000 RPM =165.6 MPH |

Just took my 308 down the freeway. 5th gear, 8000rpm, gas pedal on the floor stop. It was a fairly level road and not windy out. I didnt look at the speedo and perhaps the tach reads high (maybe). Anyone care to do the math to see how fast I was actually going? Im running TRX stock tires, 3.71 axle ratio but at the moment I dont know the ratio for 5th gear. Its a 79 US spec 308. Thanks in advance. Paul. |
