Wayne - Yes. I saw the film. In 1962. I was 14-years old and knew more about Ann Margret than I did about the cars. But I loved the cars. When this thread caught my eye, I remembered that there were Ferraris in the film. I didn't remember that Ann Margret was cast as well. What does that say about an impressionable young boy? Jim S. |

Jim, can't do anything with that image from here. Have you seen the film? By the way, I found this statement: "A red 290 MM Spyder Scaglietti, a purple 375 MM Spyder Pinin Farina, a blue 750 Monza Scaglietti Spyder, and a red-white 750 Monza Scaglietti Spyder all appeared in the 1962 film 'State Fair.'" here: http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/tv.html I'm guessing it's the red/white 750 Monza mentioned above. |

Correct myself if i am wrong but i recall that there was an F-Car in "Cheech + Chongs Next Movie". I cannot remember the model since it has been at least 10 years since the last time i saw it. If i remember the owner gave the keys at a night club to Cheech's cousin mistaking him for a valet. Then they ditched the police in it. Not exactly an oscar wining movie. |

James, the car in the top photo looks like a 750 Monza. Can you enlarge the image of the car itself? |

Have to date myself - 1962 "State Fair" starring Pat Boone, Bobby Darin, and Ann Margret. He's racing around in what looks like a 1961 Testarossa. Need Wayne or James to identify it. Saw the movie when first released for 20 cents U.S. Jim S.

Strange this thread should be active now. I just watched the original National Lampoon's Vacation with my 10 year old son on Comdey Central this afternoon. That red 308 and Christie Brinkley are still two of the sexiest things I have ever seen. It still holds up after 20 years. The movie was released in '83. In fact, I have always told my wife as long as I have known her, "If a gorgeous blonde in a red Ferrari pulls up and invites me in I'm outta here." The reality is that I bought the Mondial Cabriolet because it has 4 seats, so we can cruise with the kids now. |

In the movie "To Live and Die in LA", Willem DaFoe drives a black 308GTS QV. At the end of the movie (after he dies) his girlfriend and her girlfriend drive off in it. |

"I don't, however, remember the Ferrari." It was early in the film. But that's the kind of scene that broadcast (or basic cable) channels cuts to leave more time for commercials.

DGS, I like the movie "Can't Buy Me Love", especially Ptrick Dempsey . I don't, however, remember the Ferrari. I'm not saying its not there but I don't remember it. Good movie though.

Here's another one--"the Glass House" . There is a chase scene between a TR and a Jag, ending th the demolition of the Ferrari. It's actually a good movie too ( in spite of the mangled Ferrari). |

La Passione came out while I was in Germany, but I never got to see it. I remember it was produced be a very popular British blues guitarist (Chris ?) who is one of the most avid English ferraristi. Is this available in NTSC format or DVD? thanks rt |

The movie called "GO" It has a few scenes where a rich guy tosses the keys to a guy in tuxedo thinking he is the valet, the guy who is mistaken for a valet gets mad and takes the car out for run in Las Vegas for a few miles, it has a nice sound track for this short scene in the about the midpoint of the movie, Its a 355 fully wound up. The new bad boys II looks like fun too. |

Very obscure.. but.. A rare Ferrari Dino show car was used in Clockwork Orange. About five good shots of it. Anyone know the details? Great movie anyway.. |

"Boy on a Dolphin" with Sophia Loren featured a 375 Coupe that I actually was in. My first ride in a Ferrari...around the UN building in 1957. |

I LOVE "The Hidden", saw it in the theater when it first came out. Bought it on DVD for Ferrarilist master Steve Cook, and later for myself... Campy movie, but the first 5 minutes rock! |

Rob, yup, good one, very weird indeed, but charming in its own way. Now that we have finally found some 'Hidden' fans, let me throw out another all time favourite of me: La Passione It is actually growing on me each time I watch it again. I'm starting to identify with the kid (at least as long as he is a kid, not the millionaire afterwards...I wish). While watching the scenes of von Trips, I can't help thinking about our lost friends. And it helps. |

There is great short movie from the late 60's with Terence Stamp from the 1962 version of "Billy Bud" driving a fantuzzi spyder(this car would be my dream Ferrari of all time). It is a short story part of an anthology called "Spirits of the Dead" it is a compilation of 3 stories by Edgar Allen Poe the last one has the Ferrari, a pyscho ending, and lots of revving the engine and sliding around. It was talked about in a issue of FCA Prancing horse in the last couple of years. here is a review: "Toby Dammit" (released separately as "Never Bet the Devil Your Head"), a brilliant and sometimes chilling piece of enigmatic filmmaking from Federico Fellini. Terence Stamp is a marvel of facial expressions as boozy, obnoxious British movie star Toby Dammit, who falls apart at the seems upon arriving in Italy to start production on a Western reworking of the story of Christ. Instead he becomes imprisoned in his own personal hell. In every possible technical department, this segment is a triumph and the creepy finale (borrowing a key image from Mario Bava's KILL, BABY, KILL!) has lost absolutely none of its impact. and another: Call me deprived. This was my introduction to the films of Federico Fellini, way back when. But it was perfect, it was short enough and contained just enough to leave me wanting to see more. The section is, of course, the "Toby Dammit" segment and, to me, was just so far ahead of it's time. Maybe it was just ahead of MY time and I had to age a little more to "get" more of it. I don't know, I just know that as I get older and, unfortunately, more cynical, the segment makes more and more sense to me. Well, as much sense as it ever will have anyway, let's not forget who we are talking about here. Since it is my favorite segment and the only one I usually fast-forward to when watching the video, I will confine my comments to it alone. It concerns a celebrity deep in crisis who is invited to Rome to participate in an awards show. While there he is courted to appear in a movie and is given a Ferrari as part of his compensation. The segment is harrowing and nightmarish, a waking dream as only Fellini could have presented. You see people walking backwards, nuns, paparazzi, mannequins, people with paper masks, spectacularly lit roadside glass shops, gypsy fortune tellers, floating balls, a devilish girl in a white wig and dress looking very kabuki-esque, meat trucks and on and on. Get it? I don't, but it's a trip, man. Like a dream, it is multi-layered and impossible to fully understand. I am certain that Fellini himself would be hard-pressed to explain every image. I am sure some were quite improvisational, occuring based more on what came up that day of shooting rather than planned out precisely. Allow it's images to flow without getting bogged down in what this or that means when you first see it. You can always rewind the tape and try and take it apart scene by scene later if you are so inclined. Treat it as a celluloid dream / nightmare and you will probably be closest to the truth here. Recommended to those who are new to Fellini, its a great introduction. You will be either drawn or repelled. here is a link: http://us.imdb.com/CommentsShow?0063715 http://us.imdb.com/Title?0063715#comment Rob

Lawrence Yee, I agree, 98 minutes is short for a movie but after that action packed first 5 minutes the rest of the movie just seemed slow. I did enjoy the movie though. 360girlygirl, You are right, I dont like to see a movie "distroy" any Ferrari but it still was really cool and I agree I bet part II would be cool! |

Lawrence, I know the movie isn't long in length. I meant the story is long. The beginning of the movie has alot of action in it but then is slows down and stays that way for the remainder of the movie. It just seemed alot longer than it actually was. I found myself falling asleep toward the end. |

Jennifer, I have 'The Hidden' on DVD and it's only 98 minutes long which to me is quite short for a movie. BTW the DVD is great with dolby 5.1 and has both widescreen and fullscreen versions! |
