Tillman, you live very close from me. I'm in Valley Ranch. Are you going to 2nd Tuesday or Mid-night Run? Thanks.

Jack, thanks for your offer. Your PM & pic encouraged me to move on with my purchase back in May. I almost gave up as I couldn't buy 328, 2 offers were turned down even though one was originally accepted (someone beat me by paying more)

Thank you Tod. Same to you, too.

328's look..... I just cannot believe this car is almost 20 years old. (I can't believe I'm over 40 already)

Yoshi, I LOVE the pics! I never get tired of seeing another beautiful 328. Especially the utility shot with a multi-pack of toilet paper in the rear! Those shots could have been taken in MY garage. I assume you're more than enjoying yourself by now. Enjoy your new baby and feel free to contact me again if you have any questions (floor mats, car wax ;)

There's nothing wrong with the pictures. The car looks great, congrats (again) on picking up a nice example.

See you on the road.

To take another pics, I want to ask you all what I did wrong on the previous. There's no comment from people asked for pics, which makes me feeling sad after what I went through. I know, I know it is all for me, but I'm just wondering.....

PSk, 328 & Mustang both make you feel the same in one sense. You need to be very accute of what you are doing. They are totally different cars, I know, but I enjoy driving both of them (although Mustans is accumulating only about 50 miles against 328's 400 miles in the past 1 week)

Yoshi,

I think it is just the time differences ... as I live in Australia. I have 4 children and 2 under 3 years old ... so yep I am off to bed nice and early!

An interesting driving comparison between the 328 and Mustang ... good idea having such a diverse collection, always something to suit your mood :-)

PSk, when do you sleep? Yep 36 rolls of toilet papaer for 6 of us, which will be gone in 2-3 wks. Our garage is so cluttered now (in process of moving), as Vette & Mustang used to be in there. Vette was replaced with 328.

Jim E, I think my engine will look dirtier, that's why I took photo to keep the record for what it looked in June, and compare few months later.

So THAT'S what a clean engine looks like! I was checking the oil last night at the gas station and some guy walked up to look at the engine. He said "That looks like an engine that gets used!". Time to do some detail work I guess.

Thank you very much PSk. Your advise was very helpful. I read "Help/Instruction", but couldn't tell how to convert to JPEG and then change the size w/in 640 x 640.
I learned a little tonight (or morning now). Never thought buying Ferrari will improve my computer skill.
Good night !

Okay Yoshi I will try and help you as you are having the usual posting attachments problem.

First of all you need to ensure your pictures are in jpeg format (thus *.jpg files) as these are nice and small. There is a size limit for attachments which I cannot remember.

Then you create your POST (EDIT, I accidentally said email originally ... ) as per normal, select the Upload Attachment button (next to the Preview/Post Message button ... below) and you will see a window that allows you to attach 4 images.

For each image you wish to attach:
- You select the Browse button on this Upload Attachment window and locate the picture ON YOUR computer.
- Select it and you will see the pictures name and path in the Upload Attachment window.
- Repeat for other pictures.
- You then select the Upload button and WAIT, until you are returned to the message window.

Then select the Preview/Post Message button as per normal.

Again the extension you want is jpg.

Good luck, we all have all had this fun!
Pete

Finally! Here's pics. I couldn't move other cars to get her out of the garage today, due to my scheduling. Hope to take her outside to take pics later for better lighting.
I just wanted to keep a promise for photos as I said I will do so in the past posting, as some may remember.
I won't use these photos for my profile as I am not really satisfied with them yet.

Thank you Chris, I think my 328 is excercising me so I can be more accomodating to her. Except Friday & Sunday, I'd been driving everyday since 6/25/03.

Augustine, cruising with your car surely be eye-catcher. You often see red Ferrari, but, like I said before, I haven't seen any blue before. Yours is the only one I ever saw!

Adrian, I can walk to my work, haha. Anyway, I won't drive 328 if a driving distance is less than 10 miles. The car won't even warm up, I think.

DGS, Jim E, Tillman, thanks for advise. I will see how much my car may leak when I wash her. I am also thinking to re-sealing work done, but haven't started any research yet. I did re-sealing of Mustang Conv before, and it went well (at least that's what I think)

Jack! Thank you. I really appreciated your PM when I just joined F-chat. We will enjoy & have great time driving our car.

Drive it a lot, it runs better that way. Mine's in the parking garage now :-)

As for rain, I've had it in the rain several times. It's only leaked once, when I was stuck in stop and go traffic in a monsoon. The biggest issue on rainy days is spray from trucks and such, but the car itself handles fine.

My car doesn't leak a drop, and I've driven it 90 miles in a downpour. I've had no trouble driving it in the rain either, but I take it easy in the wet.

Yoshi, my early '88 doesn't leak at all. I have no problem driving mine rain or shine. It's sweet, but it doesn't melt in the rain. Absolutely drive it to work. (The long walk from the empty part of the parking lot is good for your health.)

Just be careful on your first few runs in the wet. You don't get much chance, on the average U.S. road, to push the 328 up against its limits in the dry -- so it's in the wet that any issues with the alignment will appear. An alignment and new tires transformed the wet handling of my 328, but didn't show very much change in the dry. And go easy on the "loud" pedal -- the 328 will power oversteer in the wet without too much prodding.

Yoshi, DRIVE IT TO WORK! I have one rule about my cars, if I am paying for it, IT will NOT have a better life than me! A few of my colleagues and friends have commented that I drive my Fcars too much, especially since this past week has been a heat wave. Even the dealers I got the cars from have told me to slow down. I will. In the winter!

Yoshi, the car leaks! Get used to it now. Carry a towel like I do, and learn the ancient art of steering with your thighs, wiping the windshield with the left hand and shifting with your right

...wax on, wax off!

I just took it out for 1 hour late night drive after getting up in a middle of the night. I guess I am still excited or just getting sleep disorder......

Jim, does you car leak in rain? I want to try my car just once to see, and also check how I can drive in rain.

Augustine, I saw your pics in May. Beutiful car! Are you still getting the fever?

Jerry W, I was about getting tearful in first 3 lines, but after that, I started smiling. LOL. You're poetic, too. I'm going to use some lines in the future.

David-sama, first I am not worthy of sama, which means Lord or Master. Like I said before, I intend to take pics in the weekend. I now can use digital camera, and took some photos. I still don't know how to download to my computer though. I have Mac so it should be easy.

Maybe I should take 328 out before I go to work now.

You know some men don't make it; we were confident you would; for the love of F-chat, that's how you could. Go Yoshi go....enjoy your new car; love it from near, love it from far. It's raining & cloudy here today. Like Bob D said, cold front came! When I finish my work, cool, intense, open air driving like Dave EC said, will be awaiting ! ! !

How's your Dino, Adrian?

Thanks for the advise, Jeff. I think the previous owner already experienced this as I see a crack at the black fender (lower front part). You have to look closely to notice it, so I don't care. If I made this crack bigger, I will change the fender.

Thank you others for your kind words. I do sense we all share the same passion from y'all.

Yoshi, you're right about the link below. It worked yesterday... it probably went into the archives last night.

Here's the updated link, unfortunately no more new posts can be added. I'll start a new thread and update the list in a few months. Based on your VIN, it looks like your car is about 2/3's down the list of 86's.

http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/251280/256480.html

We had a "cold front" come through Dallas last night... highs are only supposed to be in the mid 80's the next couple of days. Take the top off and enjoy!

Yoshi

Great choice, have fun and take advantage of the GTS, just take of the roof and head out in the early morning or when the sun has gone down. Have a blast and forget about the AC, as others have commented its not the best, but with the roof of, a warm breeze, and the exhaust in full flight the trip will be magic!

Enjoy

Now to reply postings:
Please wait till this weekend. I did buy a digital camera and charging the battery now. I also need to read instruction on how to download photos to my computer.
Plan to do this over the weekend.

The car is '86 328 GTS (wanted GTB, but couldn't find one in time, and couldn't wait ! ) Red/Black, VIN #ZFFXA20A5G0064711.

Bob D, I tried 3 times to access your indicated address, but I get the following message:
The requested URL /discus/messages/21/256480.html was not found on this server.
I want to register!!!

Jim E, I like that. I'm not far from Southlake. Let me know!

DGS, my salesman taught me all instrument & switches, but I will read manuals to learn more. As you foresaw, I did had a problem. Yes, I am still awake at 2:00 am.

Master Handa & Adrian, thanks for your patience and all those advises.

Rob Lay, thank you for giving me leads and advise.

Charles & Crawford, I will try your tip tomorrow!

Thank you all very much for congratulating me for my purchase. (If I didn't mention your name, please don't take it as rude, I will print this thread to file w/ my manual)

Can't wait for tomorrow......

Got back from driving, and opened the thread to write on my first ride. Then seeing all these people's comments & advise, I couldn't see the screen with my tears. (I cry watching "Little House On the Prairie" every time) Thank you very very much. You all really helped me to get here. Otherwise buying Ferrari was just dream, not hope, then to reality.

Tried to drive with kids, but extended it till tomorrow. Another Ferrari owner (in Japan) came to see my car, and went out driving at 8:30. Next 3 hours were pure joy & fun! Stopped at Starbucks for break, and let him drive for about 1 hour. He drove very conservative as he is CPA. I felt like first, that the car is letting me drive, not me driving the car. Then I started getting comfortable, and enjoyed the roar of engine sound, gravity shifting, and stability of road gripping. I never went faster than 100 today, but it's so easy to get to 80 with this car. I didn't push in the accelerator all the way to the floor at all, just stepping in few inches and the car pushes and turns so sharp. Sorry for the lack of vocaburary.....
We were on 635 to Garland, 114 to Southlake, 183 to Fort Worth, 121 to ???.
When I realized outside was too dark, I turned on the headlight, but no meter could be read inside. W/out panicking, I start feeling around the meter, and found the rotor switch to brighten it up. Then realized I was going 80, so slowed down again. The car tend to go too fast too quickly... I think I should take driving class.

I would also like to add my Congrats Yoshi! I also have an AC tip. Try to start a drive with the cabin as cool as possible. Park in a garage or under a roof, or at least use a windshield sun screen. I find that when I start with a cool cabin, the AC will usually keep it cool.

Here is a good tip to get the most out of a 328's A/C. Have the top vents aiming at you and pointing towards the top of the windshield. Use your visor to deflect the air down to your face. It does help some.

Yoshi, congrats from another 328 owner.

I know your instinct will be to get in and drive drive drive.

But -- old flight training procedure -- take a moment to sit in the car and go over the owner's manual. You don't want to be hunting around inside for a control while cruising along a crowded hightway. Knowing where the A/C controls are can moderate your hot drive, and free you to enjoy the intensity.

After all, you're going to be in the garage tonight, looking at the car instead of sleeping anyway, right?

Today I finally picked up my first Ferrari. It took quite while and let me meet many new nice people. So thank you all who replied to my thread, giving me all these information, and being supportive! I printed them all to file with 328 manuals.
I have to work few more hours, but after that, I will take her out. Driving 30 minutes from the dealer was very intense & hot. I have 4 kids and cannot wait to see their face when they see 328 for the first time.
