You can put 5 1/4 with a 1/4 baffle or 6.5 midbass on the doors and 1" tweeters in the vent area in the dash - sub in the front compartment and open the plate below the drivers dash to act as a bandpass and you got one helluva sound system. I strongly recommend a high temperature high wattage subwoofer to be able to handle the pressure from the soundwaves in the front compartment. I used a MTX8000 series sub with a 4 channel 600 watt amp using Focal ft. mids and highs and it sounded purely awesome to overcome the loudest engine and road noise. Simple to install and will guarantee a smile on your face. I used to compete in Iasca sound competition and placed top honors in the nationals so building sound systems are no stranger to me. You have any questions on the interior of the 348 let me know, I had the entire interior removed to bare metal including the dash. |

Coincidentally, I just went through this last week. My factory speakers were in bad shape. They're in the front of the doors, and easy to access. The first pair I bought looked right, but were slightly too small in diamter to just bolt in. I ended up with a more expensive 6.5" MB Quart(?) that bolts in perfectly, I think these are probably higher quality than the marginal CD/Tuner in mine, but I like that they bolted up correctly, and they sound much better than the toasted factory speakers.
