Am here in Brazil and was watching TV and it hit me... There was a jazz special on and one of my fave songs with Bing... Then it hit me, with a tear in my eye... Please allow me to nix all my other choices. If the Ferrari here could sing... Enjoy the Music (with a few writer's embellishments), Steven R. Rochlin Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above, Don't fence me in Let me ride through the wide open country that I love, Don't fence me in Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze And listen to the singing of my engine please Send me off forever but I ask you please, Don't fence me in Just turn me loose, let me straddle the old paved "saddle" Underneath the western skies On my seat i'll let you wander over yonder Till we see the mountains rise I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences And gaze at the moon till we lose our senses And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences Don't fence me in Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies, Don't fence me in Let me ride through the wide open country that I love, Don't fence me in Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze And listen to the singing of my engine please Send me off forever but I ask you please, Don't fence me in... Don't fence me in, no Pop, oh don't you fence me in"

One of my favorite car songs: Foreigner: "Rev On The Red Line" Two in a row, everybody knows At the green light you rev it on the red line Been waitin' all week, to get my wheels on the street Get my hands on the wheel, slide down in the seat She's wearin' new colors and runnin' pretty good I got four hundred horses tucked under the hood But there's no need to panic, it's under control We're aerodynamic and ready to roll Rev on the red line You're on your own Rev on the red line Just let it go Runnin' all night on Lake Avenue It's a piece of cake if you know what to do You've got to lose a few, 'til the stakes get high When the odds are right, you just blow by And make no mistake, there's women who just wait For the man and machine with the best time "" Wasn't long ago, I could've lost my wheels Had to outrun the law, it was no big deal I guess they had a grudge, they were hot on my tracks I had to pay off the judge to get my license back Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin' while I'm tearin' up the street Rev on the red line You're on your own (Rev on) rev on the red line Just let it go (Rev on) rev on, rev on (Rev on) don't think I'll ever learn to slow down (Rev on) you'll still be here and I'll be gone Rev on, rev on |

Since "Red Barchetta" and "Highway Star" were taken, I'll go with "Detroit Rock City" by Kiss (imagine a radio changing stations here) "... congressional reports. President Ford says that he's disappointed with Congress's performance. In Detroit, a Pontiac, Michigan youth was reported dead at the scene of a head-on collision on Grand Avenue this morning. The youth was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the boulevard when he struck a delivery truck and was catapulted through the windshield of his car. The driver of the truck is reported to be uninjured. The identities of both men are being withheld by local police. County legislatives today are expected to rally to the aid of striking longshoremen in hopes of ending the 9 month deadlock ..." "..roll all night and party every day I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day" (music starts here) I feel uptight on a Saturday night Nine o' clock, the radio's the only light I hear my song and it pulls me through Comes on strong, tells me what I got to do I got to Get up Everybody's gonna move their feet Get down Everybody's gonna leave their seat You gotta lose your mind in Detroit Rock City Get up Everybody's gonna move their feet Get down Everybody's gonna leave their seat Getting late I just can't wait Ten o'clock and I know I gotta hit the road First I drink, then I smoke Start up the car, and I try to make the midnight show Get up Everybody's gonna move their feet Get down Everybody's gonna leave their seat Movin' fast, doin' 95 Hit top speed but I'm still movin' much too slow I feel so good, I'm so alive I hear my song playin' on the radio It goes Get up Everybody's gonna move their feet Get down Everybody's gonna leave their seat Twelve o'clock, I gotta rock There's a truck ahead, lights starin' at my eyes Oh my God, no time to turn I got to laugh 'cause I know I'm gonna die Why Get up Everybody's gonna move their feet Get up Everybody's gonna leave their seat

For the other cars: (I'll stay with "Love Her Madly" for the 328): In the winter in the Celica GT-Four, I kept thinking of the lyrics to that song from "Little Shop of Horrors": "You don't know what you're messin' with ... You got no idea "You don't know what you're lookin' at ... When you're lookin' here ..." But the other day, as I was chasing down a 911 cabrio in the EVO, the music that kept playing in my mind was: "Rice-a-roni, The San Francisco treat ..." I'm sure I don't know why. |

Tyson, not any more, someone stole my cd player out of my car...! LOL, i'm gettin hella tired of the radio, though, i'll tell you that...! As The Bird jokingly says, "Lock your doors, folks, this is Commack..." The joke being that Commack is a very nice area... Go figure. Otherwise, no; drives were never longer than two or so hours and you can't get tired of a song in two hours... i lament to admit that i don't do much driving anymore with my transmission in the current condition it is. Ginuwine - Hell Yeah Prodigy - Smack My B*tch Up Clipse - When The Last Time Ludicris - Roll Out Ludicris - Act A Fool Baby - Do That Thing Dr. Dre - Still Dre Swordfish Soundtrack (whole thing) And when my girlfriend is driving the 360, Motley Crue, She's Got the Looks that Kill. TEC is right. It's not what you want you listen to - I can only hear the car itself (104Db) in my Boxer. It's about the soul of the car and what you feel about it - the passion, the glory and maybe the pain. What music represents the beauty and the beast for you? |

This is a great thread. I think given that my car is black, if it were music it might be: "You shook me all night long" from AC/DC's back in black. She was a fast machine She kept her motor clean She was the best damn woman I had ever seen She had the sightless eyes Telling me no lies Knockin' me out with those American thighs Taking more than her share Had me fighting for air She told me to come but I was already there 'Cause the walls start shaking The earth was quaking My mind was aching And we were making it and you - Shook me all night long Working double time On the seduction line She was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine She wanted no applause Just another course Made a meal out of me and came back for more Had to cool me down To take another round Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing 'Cause the walls were shaking The earth was quaking My mind was aching And we were making it and you - Shook me all night long ... Me and my babe will be shakin' it all day long tomorrow at LRP. So lets hope she "keeps her motor clean". Apologies for the political incorrectness here, but the first two lines |

TC, Thanks my friend for your understanding. Get the Ferrari all warm and happy. Put on Surfing track 7 as you are on your fave streatch of roadway and prepare to let her rip! Let the music and road/car/driving conditions be your guide :-) Enjoy the Music (Red Barchetta.... you KNOW what i mean here :-) ), Steven R. Rochlin "My uncle has a country place That no one knows about. He says it used to be a farm, Before the Motor Law... I strip away the old debris That hides a shining car. A brilliant red Barchetta From a better, vanished time. I fire up the willing engine, Responding with a roar. Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime... Wind- In my hair- Shifting and drifting- Mechanical music- Adrenalin surge... Well-weathered leather, Hot metal and oil, The scented country air. Sunlight on chrome, The blur of the landscape, Every nerve aware... Drive like the wind, Straining the limits of machine and man. Laughing out loud With fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan. At the one-lane bridge I leave the giants stranded at the riverside. Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside." |

TC, Ahhhh... darn end of the month has me doing fast reads of posts :-( . Please accept my apologies. It is MAJOR CRUNCH time for me. Ok, if the 1985 Euro 308GTS QV was a song... While "Breakin' The Law" by Judas Priest seems like a natural (now implementing my "don't ask, don't tell" policy :-) )... i'd opt for one of my favorites... Joe Satriani's Surfing With The Alien track 7 song titled "Circles". It starts out slow (to "warm up" the car). Then 62 seconds later when all is set, it breaks into this amazingly, BLINDINGLY FAST guitar riffs as the band follows (car ripping up the road in EVERY angle and in EVERY way). If a guitar could shoot out flames, playing THIS song would be a natural. Eventually the song slows to a nice mellow tempo (car cools down). In fact, have used this song for those who also want a musical soundtrack as i drive this certain section of 31. Have it all timed out :-) The combination of the music and the way i take 31 usually scares all but the most seasoned of drivers who know the limits as i do. Newbies just wet the leather passenger seat LOL Bring a towel :-) Joe Sat rips!!!!!! Enjoy the Music (Neil Young "Words" on Nautilus vinyl right now), Steven R. Rochlin "...If I was a junkman selling you cars, Washing your windows and shining your stars, Thinking your mind was my own in a dream What would you wonder and how would it seem? ..."

Andy, Here's my take (as i run for cover)... To me it matters not how good the stereo is within a Ferrari, the sound of the engine and custom exhaust (no cat pipes :-) ) is ALL i need. Please keep in mind this is from a guy who not only publishes/edits/writes for various music magazines and is also a classically trained musician, but also have well over 10,000 music software titles at my disposal. So guess the point is, the right music FOR ME (and ONLY speaking for myself) is the sound of the car itself. Anything else would seem trivial and diminished by comparison. Enjoy the Music ("4.33 AM - Running Shoes" on the Roger Waters album The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking), Steven R. Rochlin http://www.EnjoyTheMusic.com "...You could see that she thought I looked fine And when she turned sweeter The reason, between you and me, was She'd just seen my red Ferrari [RW:] "I think it was the Ferrari." So we went for a spin in the country To feel the wind in our hair To feel the power of my engine To feel the thrill of desire..."

It is reported that I have a multi-hundred watt (600+) stereo in my F355, along with good speakers, 10 disk changer, multiband radio,..... I don't know, in the 2 years and 2 months of ownership, it has only been turned on once just to make sure it actually worked. In an F355, the engine (along with the intake and exhaust) IS the MUSIC. Why screw it up with excess background noise, no mater from whence it comes?....... |

A couple of very entertaining threads (on Ferrari vs Porsche and first Boxer drive) got me thinking about how to describe driving my cars. The Boxer is "Ragged Glory" from Neil Young played very loud on a hot day (Raw, visceral, Yeeeh Hah!). The 993 cab is something from Talking Heads (rocking, sexy but clever), possibly "Girlfriend". Now i need to buy something to go with Richard Thomson's Vincent 52 because it is such a great driving song but doesn't fit either car What's yours? |
