Any one off Ferrari, especially from the factory will go for a premium. Hey, did you see that pink Barbie edition 348 that sold in 1993 for $800,000?

I called about this car some time ago. They seemed to be pretty firm about the price. I also some some pictures, I thought the interior was ugly (but it might be someone else's cup of tea). They gave me the "it's an aluminum 328, the only in the world" speech. Not sure why anyone would pay such a premium but someone must have thought it was a good idea at one time.

The car is at Foxvalley motorcars in chicago. Sorry I don't know how to post a link so you can just click on it and get there, but go to www.foxvalleymotorcars.com and check out their Ferrari inventory.

Gosh Forbid you did anything to a car like that, forget about fixing it. You know what it's like trying to straighten aluminum, forget about trying to curve it back to the lines of pinifarina. The thing would be a true lead sled by the time you're done.

Just a quick comment on this-------Ive read, heard and seen where the 360 has had some paint problems with their aluminum bodies----In addition, it might be more of a problem if you have to repair an aluminum body than the conventional------I am going to assume that if you put the aluminum 328 next to any other 328, you would not be able to tell the difference. I am also going to assume that if you do a 1/4 mile in one opposed to the other, you would not be able to determine which went quicker. Therefore, why pay an extra $30,000????????????????????????

There was only 1 aluminum body 328 made (Yellow) and Ferrari of Houston had it for sale some 4 months ago, the price was around 75,000. I am not sure but I believe it was commisioned by Ferrari of Houston.

Sounds like a Bank got BURNED on a bad loan & they are just trying to get their $$$$ out of it. Has anyone had experience with repo Ferraris with VERY high pay offs? The good ol' USA is full of them.

Sounds like a last "HAIL MARY" to me to see what it will bring before the approaching price crunch.

If it has an all aluminum body, then I've seen them advertised for up to 95K. They cost something like 200K for the factory to put together and only a couple were made (I can't remember why they even made them). 75K in that sense seems like a good price for this type of car, but who wants this type of car I don't know.

That does seem exceptionally high, especially for a non-red color combination. You should be able to find a pretty good unmolested example for something between 47K to 52K US$. Usually the GTS will be a little higher in value than the GTB. I recommend you check out the Ferrari market newsletter which is available on-line at: http://www.ferrarimarketletter.com/

It's a great resourse and gives a good representation of "asking" prices which are different than selling prices. This chat site is also a great forum for such information also.
Maybe there's 25K in cash under the seat of the Chicago car. Give a call to Algar in Philly and get their opinion and see if they have any leads. They're quite helpful and have a reputation for being honest.
Best of luck.

I thought I saw that on the web somewhere too. If I remember it said it had an all aluminun body and the interior was a special red/black mix with Dayton style seats. It caught my eye because I thought to myself "yellow with red/black iterior? - yikes" But the color combo wasn't that bad if I remember correctly.

There is an 89 328 advertised at a dealer in the chicago area. It is yellow with black interior with 15k on it. They are asking 75k for it! This seems WAY too high to me. Am I missing something?
