Nice to see you both shake hands...move on...and focused on what brought you here, Ferrari.

Mario

P.S. Rob, good call on pulling the thread.

For those of you wondering what the original thread was about:

There was some mud slinging between several members and they were neither John nor Paul as one may expect. Lets just leave it as such!

:-)

Good morning John.
I am glad you finally surfaced, even if by email. After all that was said and done, no offense taken. Both of our tempers started to get the best of us. I accept your apology amd glad to see you did it online so that others could read it. I did not want to be the villan in this whole episode; and nor are you at this point. I will expect the tires back to me early in the week and I will send back your check along with the shields you ordered. The prices that you were quoted for new tires are very good. I was quoted $373 each for the rears through the Tire Rack. Are the prices from Allied and Tire Kingdom for the rears or the fronts? Just curious.
Being that we both live in Florida, I am sure our paths may cross. Take care John.
Rob, thanks for hiding the thread. We will put the site to better and more productive use.

Paul,
A few thoughts:
1) Received your message on the machine last eve.
2) I emailed you 2 days ago. Please respond through email if you like.
3) The F1 tires are $281 each at the local shop (Allied) and $318 at Tire Kingdom.
4) We are not in a position where making $10 on shields or saving $50 on tires will make a difference on finance. I actually recommended you keep them before I saw them. You were very persistant on selling them.
5) I purchase them knowing what the average expected 600 mile tires look like and based upon the integrity of your past posts, but when I received them, they look like when I usually replace them. I sent them back yesterday/UPS.
6) Generally, I find you manners and posts polite and very helpful.
7) Others must feel the same way to come to your defense, but I also feel they felt the tires were pretty bad shape to feel a need to defend you.
8) As for me posting, it was an OPEN discussion sale and not a private sale.
9) Either way, I apologize for some of the member's negative posts and unhelpful remarks.
10) At this time, I really do believe you feel the tires are in good shape. Just different opinions.
11) We should work on more positive and supportive feedbacks/posts.
12) Forgive me for my loquacious post and my temper. I hope to meet you in a positive note sometime. John

No offense taken as it is subjective. To me in the pictures they looked pretty much toast.

Anyway, the only real objective method would be to use a tire depth gauge (at the LOWEST) tread area and then compare to manufacturers specs. to derive % worn, % left.

Best of luck. Cheers

Good evening everyone. Bruce is correct. Rob did take the thread off late this afternoon. Not sure why, but I can't blame him. Some of the writers were annoying and some understood. As Bruce said, I did leave a message for John on his home answering machine at around 5pm today. There has been no return call. As I mentioned earlier today, this whole situation came to me as a surprise by reading about it on FChat at 7:30 this morning. Not hearing about it by phone or email directly from John. How would you feel? Maybe a little pissed off too! There is no basis for his complaint.
DaveHanda: During the day all of the experts came out of the woodwork and many pretended to be "tire experts" and doing so without even seeing the tires in person. Thats a pretty good trick.
PThomas: I don't know who you are,but I can tell you that the tires are not "slicks". You made that comment this afternnon also. Don't take it personal, but no need to be a wise ass. That goes for others too.

Have we kissed and made up yet? I was gone all day and the thread has been deleted apparently.
