Is the real problem here that Matt thinks LWA just wants a picture for his book, and LWA says he wants to buy the car but now thinks that Matt doesn't really own it so he claimed to have "sold" it? This is a really silly thing to argue about.

Matt, if LWA had asked in the first place just for a pic for a book, would you have sent him one? LWA, if you wanted to truly buy the car, what would you have done different in retrospect to get the deal done?

I know this thread is annoying to some, but I feel like some resolution is called for so I hope the hurt feelings can be soothed.

Life is too short to worry about who has what.

If Matt says he owned this car, I beleive him. If Wayne wanted to buy this car and spent the time to get his finances arranged and the deal fell through, thats just the way it goes sometimes, Buying/selling an F-car is like buying/selling real estate, you have to be prepared to waste a lot of your time, but if the deal falls out, dont stress and worry about who did what, just get over it and keep looking for the next one. If the deal didnt happen, it wasn't meant to be.

Get over it, move on, keep focussed, and put your energy into somethig positive.

Matt/Wayne, I beleive both of you, nobody has to prove anything.

Just my 2c..... Adam

Now that this has become the most active thread on F-chat, maybe people want to see the photos?
Just for fun at this point.

When I get prints from Pro photographer, they mark them up, so I can't use them until I pay for them. Anyone of us can photo-shop the prints for you. Then you can show and not worry about them getting into book. Maybe there is more to it?

ML, I'm not LWA or anyone elses' alter ego. My only involvement with Ferrarichat up to this point was through the F1 Fantasy League on Yahoo. Other than that, at no point time did I ever post on Ferrarichat under another user name.

Even though this is my second post, I still feel compelled to respond. Rob hit the answer 100% on the mark; for all of you screaming "Take this crap offline", etc. some of you guys haven't been so quick to take "crap offline" in the recent past. I think that's part of self-defense mechanism where the known antagonists on this board know that if their credibility were called into question at some point in time, no such quarter would be given them, nor have they given such quarter to other individuals in the past.

After all, you live by the sword and you die by the sword. That's the way it has to be if this forum is going to be of a high standard in terms of personal accountability and credibility. After all, no one wants this place to be full of liars. For this situation to be resolved in the best way, ML should post a pic of his car, or let some SoCal Fcar enthusiasts see said Boxer or PF230 Scaglietti Enzo Dino Pininfarina Speciale Fiorano Monza or whatever it's called.

Is Jonas the only one that has seen the pictures? Matt's biggest foe at one time is the only one that has seen pictures. He also slipped up and said there were 4 Ferraris. What? Lying about lying? LOL

I could care less about a purchase gone bad, that's not why I'm involved. Wayne has sent me all the information and I can vouch that Wayne had complete financing lined up. It's with a firm I use for my 328. Who cares though, they agreed on a purchase price, Wayne got financing, and then Don sold the car to someone else for a higher amount. I'm not focused on that, anything related to the actual transaction should be offline like the tires.

Only thing we need a resolution on so I can get integrity back to the board and trust FC's #1 poster is validation of ownership on both the BB and 250 pf. So far there is absolutely no evidence that Matt has owned these two cars that he has claimed he has. That's my issue and I will drop it until I see his pictures in person.

If anyone doesn't respect how important it is to know the truth on this last point, then I don't want you on FerrariChat.com as you are also going against the integrity of the board.

I will not tolerate lying on FerrariChat.com if I can help it. Right now there's no proof one way or another in this case, that's why I'm reserving judgment. When the facts are known, then everyone will know.

Jonas,

The point is, in a previous thread, you were challenged to produce the vin and photos (or whatever) of your Ferraris to prove your claimed ownership.

The same thing happened to Tony Roberts.

Of course there is no obligation on people to prove their ownership just because some officious bystander happens to ask the question. But if there is a prima facie doubt which calls for an explanation, then the lack of a plausible explanation may lead to irresistible inferences.

It is unfair to force you and Tony Roberts to prove their F-ownership, but apply a different standard towards another member (no matter who that member is).

JRV understands this point perfectly well when he posted : "Fair???? Who promised Life & Message Boards would be FAIR?????"

However, as I have mentioned in my last post, I have already expressed my views and it is for Matt to decide whether or not he would respond.

Solomon might opine:

The Don, post a horribly altered picture. The 'essence of truth' concerning your ownership would come through, while thwarting any possible use of the photo in a publication.

I have expressed my views for what I think is in the interests of this board.

No hard feelings to either Matt or Wayne. I hope that the private difference between them is just a misunderstanding.

I've seen pictures of this car, and it's there. Matt does not have any responsebility to show this on a public board.

I didn't quite get the one "I wonder how this is fair..." thingy. Would you care to explaine? I really didn't understand it. :-)

This should be handled offline, the only reason why I stepped forward was because someone was doubting MAtt's credibility.

OK, Let me elaborate also.

>>I will therefore sit tight and keep my ticket for the final show.<<

I'm with Dave & Bruce on this.

Instead of selling tickets to this, I've thought long & hard and can see no upside for either party involved or this board as a whole.

Generally arguments are counter productive to discussion forums, while they may generate "hits & traffic" from those with purient interests they add nothing of value most of the time.

Just as in the tire tread thread, two valuable members fighting takes away but does not improve the board.

This ain't my board, and Rob can tell me to go pound sand, however , I would send the gawkers & bystanders home and resolve this in private if it was up to me.

Let me elaborate.

As far as I can see, Matt is quite prepared to substantiate his case. It is just that he does not want to show the picture in public.

Once Matt has done that, he will have restored all confidence in his good name.

Wayne should have no hard feelings, at least as far as this "authenticity issue" is concerned. The private dispute between them can certainly go-off line, and I am not interested in "gawking", either.

Otherwise, just think of the consequences. It is only a matter of time that another imposter will appear on the scene. People call him bluff, and challenge him to prove his true colours.

Now what do you think his retort is going to be?

My side

Wayne placed all sorts of demands on the car. Wanting me to keep it secret and to not talk about it until his book came out. His demands grew to the point of pissing me off. Wanting to meet during the week when I have very tight timelines and schedules. Once I got fed up with him I told him to f-off. I did not hear from him for a week. Then out of the blue he said he would buy it and then he wanted more pictures. I took this a ruse to get the pictures and not buy the car. So I asked questions about the loan with no response and then I told him to f-off again. He e-mailed and called on a Friday and I did not get back to him until Monday and he became a total ass. He then when a little nuts on the phone and e-mail. I said f-off and then a few days later he shows up of f-chat with some posts trying to get more pictures by having my dragged over the coals knowing the f-chatters are going to want to see pictures. Rob even got into it last night. I explained the situation and he said he would back off.

I think Wayne has been spending way to much time in the sun.

Brother Bruce,

I did. Wayne just wants pictures for his book. That's all.

This way I can prevent Wayne from getting a copy of them. If I could be sure that he will not see them which is the WHOLE POINT of him posting this thread, I would have e-mailed them to Rob.

He knew you guys would push the issue knowing I would be demanded to post pic's. His coveted book is undertone to this whole issue.

Rob, your board, your choice, I understand and even agree with you. There's so much good here, and so many good Ferrari people here, it's just disappointing that even just a small handful consistently get into calling names and throwing insults when there's a disagreement, and they seem to thrive on it when there are certainly other ways to have a discussion (as those of us who are married and want to stay that way certainly have to learn). I'm not referring necessarily to those in this thread, but just in general. But I guess that would be some of those in any large group. (off soapbox now)

Mike, it's going to remain here as a way to make sure this is a good community. No one is guilty of anything yet. The integrity of this community is very important and "On Topic". If the #1 poster on FC hasn't been telling the truth, then we need to know about it.

Who can disagree with that?

If Matt doesn't want to post the pictures here, then that's fine. I'll drop it as Matt is going to show me the hard copies in person next week. Should be easier to scan and email to me, but that's up to Matt.

No big deal guys, but I'll get to the bottom of it by the end for the good of the board. Either there's good explanations to Matt's cars or there have been some lies. Either way we'll know and can move on.

Are you guys running low on testosterone again? This seems like another measure of who "has the biggest shlong". Put the stallions back in the corral and get on with life. This petty BS is getting old.

Take it up off-line. Please.

Rob, can this kind of thread perhaps be moved to "off topic" instead, since it doesn't really belong in General Ferrari Discussion? Maybe that would be better. Or a separate area for threads that digress into "he said/she said" attack the other guy's intelligence or family heritage insults (of which there have been a few lately). In any case, these really don't reflect well on the community here, and aren't representative of the normally civil, helpful, interesting discussions FerrariChat is known for. Didn't there used to be a "hall of shame" or some such? But I hate to ask you to be a policeman, with all the other good work you do for the Ferrari community especially through this board... yes, we want honesty, but we also want civility.

Rob,

I answered your questions in the e-mail you sent me, and I have outlined why I am NEVER going to post pictures of ANY car, including my Explorer on F-chat due to Wayne and his attitude.

OK, I usually like these things to run their course, but I'll step in. I think any transaction problems need to be handled offline.

However, Wayne has some valid questions with Matt's ownership of the BB and 250 pf. I believe that's unrelated to the above transaction. It's hard to police, but everyone in this community wants there to be a level of honesty. We don't have any reason to doubt Matt yet, but there are some obvious holes in his story that can easily be resolved and we can go about our business. Matt, just tell us about your BB and pf and show pictures of you with the car. I've never seen complete pics of your BB or any pics of your 250 pf. All I know is you bought the BB end of last year for a great deal, you had a shop restore it for $40k, and then you sold it before you could show it in a concours. I'm sure you have pictures. The 250 pf you bought and were keeping quiet while Wayne researched it. You should have pics of that too.

Simple enough and we can easily move on. All the guys from the FDC in Cali can easily vouch for your cars, they've all been to your house, haven't they.

This is not hard, easy to resolve this issue.

Dave is absolutely right, both of you are respected members of this board. If there is a problem, please do it off board.

I was offered his car for sale. I "concocded" no stories.

In the year that I've been a part of F-chat, I've never insulted another member of this message board. Also, out of curtesey, I didn't mention your name in my post regarding 0853GT, just that a fellow F-chat member had attempted to sell me a car he did not own.

I don't think anyone here appreciates your insults.

Bill,

it stems from a e-mail a few days ago. Wayne concocded a story about buying the car to get a picture knowing I needed the money after he pissed me off. It was all a ploy on his part. He wants a picture so bad and now I am denying it to him.

It's that simple.

Matt,
Why not just post a current photo?
That should clear things up.

Ok, Dave.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of 250 PF coupe 0853GT? I've heard rumor of it being in both Valencia, CA and Lyons, France. Can anybody here confirm either?

Duped?

You cannot be serious? After the way you acted over e-mail? You really expected me to work with you?

You have serious issues. I think you have been in the sun too long.

Dave, I'm not trying to start anything with this person here regarding this car. That's why no names were mentioned. I feel I've been duped and am I'm looking for helpful information from those who might know more about 0853 GT and its whereabouts.

There is no high road and no low road on this one. I'm just asking for help from my fellow F-chatters.

Dave,

I tried to keep it off-line but he took the low road (being a moderator and all) and posted it on-line.
