I have a tubi on my Testarossa and it doesn't seem loud.

Eli...my 355 had a Tubi, and it was not bad if I really kept my foot off it...then roared when punched. My 360 resonates even at cruising with the top down. By itself not too bad...but still a little much. And if you want tunes you have to crank it.

I have been in the hifi biz toooooo long, and my ears need to get a break. It is beguiling...esp from the outside. But I don't drive it for others, or to get attention. It's for my own enjoyment.

And I want some Pictures Of Matchstick Men by Status Quo, House of the Rising Sun, Time Of The Season, and all that stuff.

The Modena is going to be quieter all the way around.

Look to see if your Tubi has a little flat stainless badge with script reading ... Competition Only ...
That would be the loud model.

FAbspeed Sport (quiet). Look at the performance differences on the dyno on rennlist. I originally bought the RUF, at twice the price, but it washed out in the test.

The Ferrarichat sponsor Mensi was super cool when I called. He told me to discern which model Tubi I have (loud or louder) I need the serial, and he will get the info.

I like growl when I put my foot in it. But don't really need it otherwise. Being in Calif I keep the top up on the freeway and it is fine. But down around town. Tunes are critical to my well being, and I don't want people at stop lights to miss out on my singing. I have a $10K system in it, and I have to turn it up too much to hear it.

Now who made that Hendrix crack?

Its sick. Its crazy. Its what you want a car to be when you stomp on it. I am waiting for it to return after being tweaked (a little) with a new exhaust, diverter valves, gt 3 racing seats, roll bar, harnesses, and air filter. Next, some track time. Then, we will see whether i need to increase power thru ECU changes and more extensive work on intakes, manifolds, etc. It is a very fast car.

Not trying to high jack the thread, I was wondering how you like your GT-2 after you have had some more time with it?

Kevin: I had the tubi on two different 8 cyl. ferraris(348 spider and 355 GTS) and found it too loud and resonant; i found the stock exhaust on the 550 too quiet. I don't know that there is a survey of aftermarket exhausts for ferrari and even if there were, the question of loud and annoying is a subjective one, as you probably know from your audio experience. I just went thru the same issue on an exhaust for a GT-2 and compromised with one that is allegedly quiet, but yields significant performance gains. See exhaust survey on the rennlist. One guy i know would probably be willing to build a custom exhaust for you for next to nothing, just to have a shot at the ferrari market. Let me know if you are interested. He's on the east coast, but as long as the specs and dimensions are discernable, that shouldn't be a problem. (Btw, i've been listening to tubes and electrostats-Quads, mainly, since the very early seventies). Regards.

kevin, if you go to your tubi source, they will probably swap it with another system...my guy offered to do that for me.....good luck.

i've been told by another tubi dealer that there are two versions...there is a very noticable difference between tubis on the same car with the same setup. ive met guys with the same car as me, and their car sounds totally different. if tubi does produce only one version, then there is a rediculous amount of variance in their models.

OK guys, one more time: there is only one version now being sold. Yes they do get slightly louder with use but not by much (I've had mine for nearly two years now and noticed a small difference). If anything, we're always asked why it's not loud enough ! I think time has come for a "sound check" for our Tubi as well as for the competition. we'll be trying to put something together here in socal and post our results.

The good news is: the longer you drive it the louder it may get.

Oh, wait a minute, you wanted it quieter. That is the first time I have heard that request.

Enjoy!

the loudness depends of the amount of baffling(sp?), there is no way you can tell which version you have by looking at it.

"Tubi sounds better than Hendrix any day of the week!"

Was that on "Purple Haze" or "Foxy Lady" ?

Noel,
I just ordered a tubi for my 360 and I was told it only came one way. I wanted the louder one for sure.

Are you guys all talking about the same exhaust configuration (i.e., cat + silencer) for all three set-ups (stock, tubi, tubi-loud), or is the tubi-loud something that eliminates the cat?

And PUHLEEZE spare me the are you crazy comments. I have a Spider, and while I enjoy the sound of the engine, I also dig Hendrix, the Doors, and the Mamas and the Papas. That is how I get my alpha waves going.

And it is just too loud with the Tubi. Reminds me of this really good looking girl I dated that wore too much make-up. Nice at first. Bugged me later.

I may go to a stock system. But prefer not to.
